Configure a light chassis with proper Z aesthetics, stick a modernized N/A RB in it, and put a five speed behind that = money and respect. Somebody did a fan rendering of a proper modern Z a long time ago, if they can't achieve this, they should just put the Z badge away for good.

I doubt that other automakers are forced to adhere to some shapeless blob policy. Look at the C7 Vette, it still has sharp lines that make the 370 look like a piece of playdoh. There really is no excuse, Nissan essentially upgraded the G35 chassis and called it a "Z".

It doesn't have to be a shapeless blob, but a Z modified to modern standards is going to look pretty bastardized. And at the end of the day they have to make something that's appealing to a wide enough audience that it sells in decent numbers and a truly retro Japanese car isn't going to do that.

I feel the same about all the "new" versions of cars, the Z, the Camaro, the Dart, that new NSX design, etc etc. Stop trying to bum off a good name because the people who actually care about that name are more likely to be disappointed than impressed.
