i think 7even has the best team in rs1

SkinnyPupp 10-01-2010 08:59 PM

I dunno if I would have spent my #2 and #3 picks on goalies...

raygunpk 10-01-2010 09:27 PM

Good goalies are key to winning, you could potentially sweep 5 categories with a good pairing.
I've never seen somebody win a pool with an injury prone goalie, a backup, and one playing in Europe.
Just sayin.

Grandmaster TSE 10-01-2010 11:51 PM

having good goalies will make a difference
i've seen how much points a goalie can get you in one season

SkinnyPupp 10-02-2010 12:07 AM

Yes but 2 of your 3 top picks on goalies? We shall see I guess. Phoenix is due for a crash, so that was a risky pick in itself.

BTW all my goalie picks were auto drafted, so criticizing my picks in response to my criticism of someone else's picks is kind of unnecessary. I will have a lot of work to do on my team, since I slept in.

But since you brought up my goalies for some reason...

As for Huet, I fucked up picking him, but the way I see it I spent my last pick on him so he can sit on my IR in case Chicago calls him up WHEN Turco shits the bed for them. AFAIK he doesn't have to clear waivers to come back... And if I need to use an IR spot I can just dump him.

I usually do good in these types of pools with a top goalie and a backup.

invader 10-02-2010 10:12 AM

the hawks wont call up huet. They have no cap space.

Yup, I usually wouldn't have spent my 2 and 3 picks on goalies but drafting 1st overall, if I didn't use 2nd and 3rd picks on G I'd have to wait 26 picks between each round and didn't want to risk not having good G options, especially with Lu, Brodeur, Miller and Lundquist already off the board.

haha fuck, I already have my 1st injury, Brian Campbell just got hurt and out 4-5 weeks.

raygunpk 10-02-2010 11:30 AM

+Markov out til at least late October

They can pull a Rangers and move Campbell down to the minors if they have to ;)

Good point 7, you probably would have ended up with someone like Nittimaki or Lehtonen :(

Huet was shipped over to Switzerland and is not in the AHL... i.e. he has no hopes to play in the NHL this year.

SkinnyPupp 10-03-2010 08:58 AM

Aaaaaaanyway, Lehtonen is a great goalie, and Dallas is a decent team. If he stays healthy, he'll be good. Also Nittimaki has a better chance of being SJ's #1, and on that team he's another great goalie as a starter.

I also picked up Boucher, since Leighton is injured for the first month. He will have a chance to steal the #1 spot in Philly, and he has good potential too.

goo3 10-03-2010 09:38 PM

This is the pecking order should turco go down

Crawford > Bag of pucks > empty net > Huet

SkinnyPupp 10-04-2010 04:55 PM

Picked up Mike Comrie, seeing as he'll be skating with Malkin to start out. Pre season has been good so far for them!

He'll probably see time with Crosby too as the lines get mixed up a lot, good pick up.

raygunpk 10-05-2010 10:27 AM

your pool only has 1 goalie slot?

Yea there was 10 of us so we figured there wouldn't be enough good goalies
to go around.
