Looking for a new car but...

well, im looking for a new car, but dont know exacally what i want, so i figure id put out what i want IN an car and take from your guys and gals experance. so im looking for a 4dr car that is fast. dosent need to be a race car by all means but zippy. and id like it to have a turbo and eather be RWD or AWD (so no mazda 3's even tho i like them) i had my eye on a 2007 Mazdaspeed6 but not too sure i like the AWD system if i were to mod the motor, might not be able to handle it. and i looked at a 2007 suburu WRX STI today but the interor was lacking IMO. so im not sure, are there other cars im missing?? BMW turbo something? or lexius? open to any ideas but i have some that im dead set aganst (like AWD talons (i think there all 2dr anyways), VW's (dont think they make a RWD) ) but feel free to post what you think id like from what i have given you up top oh and im looking for a "newer" car. so like 07, 08, 09 ish? also, i dont have a TON of money. the speed woud lhave been $20,000 and the WRX was about $29,000 so in and around there?

Ryan, the only E46 M3's in his price range will be 99-02 years where the rear subframe mounting points rip away from the rest of the body. And a lot of the E46 M3's on Autotrader right now are convertibles. E36 M3's are much lighter/faster, but their interiors are

The Audi S4's from the first half of this decade have a very strong 2.7L 30V V6 twin-turbo engine that is very mod-friendly. The manual transmissions are pretty bulletproof too. I know a couple guys in Van that are cruising around at 5-600awhp without opening up the engine or trans.

If you can find an 07+ BMW 335i in your price range (even with a bit of a stretch), do it. 3.0L twin turbo, plug-and-play piggyback takes you from 300hp stock to 400hp. Downpipes, exhaust, intakes, intercooler all help to take you north from there. Most of the ones I've seen are automatic, so you've got to keep your eyes peeled. These engines are direct-injected, and the early high-pressure fuel pumps liked to go bad randomly (driving off the lot with 0km's too).

i know you knocked subaru off your list..

but i find the 05-09 legacy GT an underdog.. the exterior style is pleasant while the interior is upscaled compared to its class. its a huge jump over the pre 04's and used prices depreciate faster than any wrx/ sti. i myself like the legacy GT wagon 5spd.

equipped with 250hp on tap for mid teens with subarus legendary AWD?

they are priced between and WRX and STi when new with more creature comforts

can happen, but it's easy to spot, and BMW Canada is now covering the repair.

Link? The class action suit won in the US, but you've only got until Sept 9th, 2010 to get inspected.

If it weren't for the 4 door part: 2011 Mustang GT

412 horsepower and 390 ft.-lb. of torque
Dead heat in a straight line or in the twisties with a 2010 BMW M3 (runs 12s stock)

Edit: Nevermind, I was looking at US pricing. Bottom price here new is over $34,899 right now

I support 84GLI in a vote for 07+ BMW 335i if in your price range.

...what? The M3 wasn't made until 2001, and even then, most are unaffected by the issue.

E36 M3 is definitely not faster, either. Dunno where you got that from.

Sorry, should've been more clear... I was referring to the e46 M3. (The poster said that the subframe issue affected 99-02 models, but it was exclusively an e46 problem, and e46 M3's didn't arrive until 2001. Also, as far as I know, there was no M3 available for the year 2000.)

From what he's looking for and his price range, I don't think maintaining a $100,000 Mercedes is a reasonable suggestion.

Your criteria:
- turbo
- AWD or RWD
- four doors
- nice interior
- "newer"
- under $30k

My first thought, based on that criteria: Low-mileage Audi A4 2.0T with a 6spd tranny.

There's quite a few available, but I found a Gray 2006 A4 2.0T Quattro (6spd manual) with 59,000km. He's asking $24,500: http://vancouver.en.craigslist.ca/va...961338075.html

It's not nearly as fast as an STi, but it's the only car I can think of that meets almost all of your criteria and fits within your price range. The interior is gorgeous, it's practical, it's turbo, it's AWD, and it's got upgrade potential. (Granted, it's not known for being the most reliable car in the world, but as long as you go for one that's got low km's, you should be fine.)

FYI, for the people who will inevitably say "ZOMG 2L Audi is slow!!!1!"... you can use the extra $5k you saved and invest some of it in an ECU reflash.

I believe the most reputable brand is APR, and the upgrade costs ~$1000 CDN after install (IIRC). Performance numbers should be around 240bhp and 290 lb-ft of torque.

With those power numbers, a 6spd B7 could definitely be considered "zippy"... and you'll have a nice interior, a practical daily driver, and your exhaust won't wake the entire neighbourhood.

Would you consider a WRX?

I've been thinking about selling for the last little while. It's a 2002 sedan, 320bhp 300lb-ft. I know it's not a "newer" car, but it's well within your budget. If you're at all interested you can pm me
