Nano looks like garbage.. seems like Apple wants a facelift / new generation of iPods every year and fanboys actually bite..

On the other hand the iTouch improvements are pretty decent.

First time seeing a IPhone 4 in person today and compared it to my Iphone 3g and IPhone 2g. Didn't really notice a super huge difference between the screens . Once again the Apple Hype Machine is brainwashing everyone.

You need to get your eyes checked if you didn't notice a big difference on the new screen. I went from 2G to 4, and it's a pretty huge difference.

you also need to consider if the difference you notice is a result of resolution or is it due to contrast/colour/black levels etc (my gripe about the retina display is people are harping about the resolution and as far as i know that shouldn't be discernible based on its size and from reading reviews that seems to be the general consensus)

The 3GS had a shitty screen to begin with, so the iphone 4 is a huge improvement over it. But other phones have been huge improvements over the 3GS before it, and Samsung's newest phones have even better screens than the iphone 4.

I really wouldn't mind the new Nano, to replace both my old Nano and Shuffle. But they each serve their own purposes for fine now, so I can easily fight the urge :)

You can really tell a difference when you zoom in on individual letters in text. The lines are crisper and clearer than previous models.

I used the 2G for many more years than I should have, and I can tell you that the the 4 DOES have a much better screen. Argue about resolution with crappy pictures all you want, but the truth is, if you compare the 2G and 4 side by side, and you don't think it's a big jump, you should get your eyes checked.

Also, why don't you chill out a little bit. If you thought that was an insult, you got another thing coming, kid. ;)

I have 3 IPhone 2g , 2 IPhone 3g and 2 IPad's and in my opinion the IPhone 4 screen is not leaps and bounds better. If you don't agree with me show me i'm wrong. As i stated before read what StylinRed has to say and do some research and you see why i don't agree with your comments. And if the picture I showed you doesn't show further proof that your magic screen isn't so magical then i don't know what else to say. Keep it up with the immature comments. There probable not a whole lot differnnce.. its hard to improve that screen, its probable the best screens for a mobile phone....

I'm actually very tempted to grab a nano and clipping it to a leather band to use as a wristwatch/mp3 player. I'm sure its only a matter of time before the tech nerds hack it and you can run all sorts of videos, apps, games etc on it.

I got an iTouch 3g and ip4 recently. Personally, I notice a huge difference when reading webpages, emails, and playing games like NOVA.

The reason some stuff might not be "as sharp/clear" is because they are still running on old icons or not "updated for retina display". One good example is WeatherEye, it looks ok on my iTouch but blurry on my ip4 (kinda like an up-converted dvd on your big 1080p LCD TV).

Everybody have a different monitor with different brightness contrast setting etc.

Apple called it the retina display for a reason, it is something you have to experience with your own eyes.

For some the difference is phenonomen for other its meh. just like some ppl still go meh when they are show 1080p vs 720p

i have the iphone 4 and i have to say no many people were wow by the screen on first viewing. They are like, whats the big deal. After actually USING it playing games. viewing pictures, app, surfing and than going back to the 3gs/3g/2g watever. Most of them they notice how inferior the previous screens were.

imo though, apple sacrifice contrast for amazing clarity

I didn't take those pictures, they are from other forums/websites. I never said the screen wasn't better I said that for the hype surrounding this magical screen I expected a lot better.

You even said it yourself, most people who view the screen the first time says it's "meh." Shouldn't something that everyone claim is so magical wow you the first time you see it?

^ Did you even click on the pic to see it in full res (3500 x 2200 pixels)? The text is perfectly readable on the iP4 while being horrible on the 3.


Regardless, most people who have seen and tested the screens said there is a significant difference in quality. Some have said they see no diffference. The explanation is simple. Either they are looking at some type of content where the resolution is not apparent or they have a problem with their eyes.

Maybe Apple should release a Braile Display.

A little while ago Sony released a video of Marcus dissing his buddy using a phone (obvious poke at Apple) for playing games and announcing a bunch of titles for the PSP at only $9.99.

I always thought the iPhone/iPod could be a serious threat to Sony and Nintendo in the portable gaming area. Even the iPod Touch has higher sales than the PSP and DS combined. Apple has a great method for buying games (the App Store). They just need more content.

And now they're announcing Game Centre which is designed to allow iPhone/iPod users the ability to do multiplayer online gaming.


So what do people think of Apple announcing Game Centre?

People have posted online that they have no idea where Apple got their numbers from. the Nintendo DS has sold over 132 Million units, compared to the iOS devices which have only had around 120 Million sold - and only a portion of those are iPod Touch.

Not denying that the iOS devices are great for playing casual games, but they are nowhere near the DS yet in portable gaming.

Sorry it does look A LOT BETTER

Lmao owned. The difference is pretty big as in once you've used the retina display you clearly see the pixelation in the touches and 3GS.
