Final Fantasy XIV
 

Anyone in the open beta? If so how is it? I'm still downloading the client.

I haven't played XI, but the gameplay seems kind of slow? Like an actual turn based system or something from what I've seen from youtube videos. I guess I'm just used to WoW when your character pretty much just attacks non stop.

Will see how this is, maybe this'll prevent me from getting Cataclysm.

registered but couldn't get the download page to load due to congestion. played XI for over 5 years and enjoyed it a lot. only downfall of the game was it was hard to find enough people to party with. but they improved it near the last few years of the game and will probably implement those changes to XIV.

I played FFXI for 3 years. Lots of fun but I don't know if I will have time to play FFXIV.
It is a very slow game and everything just takes forever to finish.
Level 50 cap quest in FFXI... oh man, just takes forever to get a group up and all those fail wipes.

I just got the client but the damn update is sooo slow! anyone experienced it?

^same, I had to restart my download this morning and I've been downloading the patch since like 1pm. I'm still at 53.5%.... this is kinda lame :(

Sigh woke up today and its at like 99.9%.... It's hanging there cause I have no connections :(

to make the downloads faster,
go to My Documents -> My Games -> FF14 Beta -> Downloads -> ffxiv-beta
in there are 2 folders or so, and there is a torrent inside

use BT to download the patches it would make life much easier

Yea I managed to finish downloading it but not that way. I wish I knew about it earlier though!

Played for maybe 15mins today then I had to go but I'll give it another go tonight. I must say that this game LOOKS amazing. The graphics are really really good. I wasn't really expecting it to look this good.

Haven't played a FF game in a long time, since X and that was a long time ago. I've played a good number of MMO's and I think FF is one of the slowest, combat wise. I'm used to just hacking and slashing with damage just spewing. I'm trying to get used to it, I know that eventually I will.

Will play some more when I have some time tonight. I have a feeling that this'll keep me away from WoW hopefully even after Cataclysm comes out.

man the battle system is so slow and boring, good graphics and all but not my type of mmo.TERA or Blade & Soul will destroy this imo.

i played FFXI for almost my entire university life, that game was an awesome time killer.
It was slow but the freinds built on that game is pretty cool. The age on that game was relative older, usually 18+ if not older. Hence why i enjoyed it a little more then WoW.

I had closed beta, didn't play it as much due to SC2. but i expec this game to bej ust as good =P Slower then WoW or similiar type, but very JP in style.

Can't wait =)

FF series has been going downhill..

the onyl thing good is the graphics.. storyline is getting so "meh" with releases...

Wow never knew there was a FFXIV thread going on..

Played FFXI for 4 years.. Level caps weren't that difficult with a good linkshell :) FFXI has the level sync going on now which makes it much easier to level, but your skill level will fall behind really quick.

Played WoW for about 3 years? Nothing compared to FFXI. Like people said, FFXI is really slow which is good! Makes you stay longer.

But this open beta they limited it to the max.. so don't expect this to be the real deal. It's not even close apparently. Pre-ordered my game a couple months back and I can't wait for its release! :D We should have a RS Linkshell lol

wth.... registered, downloaded, installed... now i get this lobby server error when i click "Start" on the FF14 screen
