YVR taxi van charge luggage fee? can someone confirm this? i've never heard of this, took taxi van from YVR few times before and never asked to pay luggage fee. my wife took taxi van from YVR meter came to be around $40, when she handed the driver $40+15%, he said no no $10 more for the luggages she did have 5 large bags but her father+brother rode along so it's not like the driver had to move all the bags |
Never heard of this before unless things changed. Cause I remember from the airport to my aunt's home, taxi driver was still charging the metre until he finish unloading all the luggages. |
Don't pay more than the meter plus tip. Pretty sure your wife got scammed. |
yeah thats a scam |
only in HKG. |
hmm thats funny cuz a good friend of mine jsut finsihed talking about this he said they charged 2$ for every BIG luggage soo i guess it adds up..... yea its prettyy gay none the less. next time just let the driver haul all the crazy luggage |
its illegal. |
Next time someone tries to charge you for this "luggage fee," tell them you're going to call the number of the cab company and ask them about it's legitimacy before you hand over your money. And if the company tells you it's not a legit charge, tell them you're not paying for the ride because the driver tried to scam you. |
^ great idea |
OP tell us which cab company it is so we know not to give them our business. |
there should be a fare list on the cab telling you exactly how much everything is. I have been in cities where they do charge extra for big luggage - but it will say specifically on the fare list. I think by law, they should be required to have a price listed up. If it's not on there, I don't think you're required to pay it. |
yeah just bitch at them and they wont make you pay for the luggage fee, and don't tip them aswell that's what my parents did and it worked out well |
people often say tipping is required...this is one of those time i will NOT give them any more than what the meter say plus won't use that company in the future... tell us the name of the cab company |
Yeah, I have no problem paying it if it's listed up front. It should be on the side of the Van taxi. Unfortunately a lot of cheap cunts will have the heavy bags and only pay the base fare, same as people with no bags are paying.. which is obviously not fair to the taxi driver. But it should be listed up front... $10 charge for 2+ large bags. |
fckin tip this and tip that, morons get lazier and more spoiled in this place, and want more for shitty job they do. One reason I miss living in Japan. 100x better services with absolutely no tip whatsoever. |
don't shit on the taxi company you idiots. this is clearly an isolated incident with a single driver trying to get a few extra bucks. if this were a company wide policy, or unofficially policy with all their drivers, we'd have heard about it by now. try finding the actual culprit. ie: hopefully there was a CC receipt? but you'd have an idea of when they arrived, what date etc to track the taxi. they'll say they don't have any records but that's bullshit. |

Giving the driver shit won't get anything done because no one will know about it and he will receive no repercussion for his actions if you only complain to the driver. What he is doing it very unethical and should be dealt with!! |

im pretty sure its just certain individuals. and probably not only just vancouver taxi... |

I wans't there, my wife can't recall which company it was if happened once, it will happen again to someone here |
wtf. charging more per bag?? I hope its a scam cause its ridiculous if a company legally does that. its not like the weight of the bags cost more gas money. |
wtf, taxi drivers charging per bag. that's like porter service at the airport |
I thought the fee is listed on a sticker, on the rear driver side window? I remember seeing it in August when I taxi'ed to YVR. |

You have clearly never worked as a cabbie or as a porter. you have no fucking idea how heavy some people's bags are. I worked at a hotel for 6 years. some people's luggage weighs more than you do, and they take like, 3 bags per person. Usually they are the same asshole that do not tip. I'm not onboard with trying to scam people with BS lies, but I'm 100% onboard with taxi companies charging extra if you have extra/heavy bags with you. It makes sense. |
^ so if me and 3 other friends take the cab together. is the taxi driver going to charge us extra per person? i mean.. bags = extra weight and so is each additional person. Also, can the taxi charge me extra if i'm an fat person who weighs 250+ lb???? cause i can say my spare tire acts like a heavy bag that i have to carry with me. |
