Keyboard help: wired or wireless?

So I finally broke my keyboard after 10 years. I'm thinking of buy this keyboard/mouse combo on sale at bestbuy but I fear the reception distance problems as well as gaming on the pc.

So what do u guys think I should get and if you have any recommendations. I'm not looking for expensive ones. Maybe 50 max.

deff get wired

almost every wireless keyboard ive used has been trash after a couple years but my wired one have never failed me

roastpuff 09-10-2010 10:12 PM

Wired is better than wireless. Less trouble, no batteries needed, cheaper.

danned 09-11-2010 08:10 AM

wireless is crazy, it used up your batteries quick

90% of your time your keyboard / mouse won't be moving.
if u do hardcore gaming, do NOT get wireless. There are lags and when your battery dies your game goes to shit.

maybe a wireless mouse, but you'll see the same issue as above

i never had a connection or battery issue with my dinovo edge.. i never put my keyboard back on the cradle after using it and it easily last me a month before finally having to charge it again. and it's just as responsive as most usb keyboards out there. but i do agree with what most ppl said.. if you game go for wired

freakshow 09-11-2010 10:14 AM

the past few wireless keyboards i've used have been fine with battery life.
the gaming is another issue though. I would go wired for games unless you only play farmville, or games where your millisecond reaction speed isn't as crucial..

t8v6 09-11-2010 10:24 AM

^lol, farmville...

I have a Logitech set of wireless keyboard/mouse. Ive had it for 5yrs without issue. The keyboard batteries need to be replaced after about a year to year and a half. The mouse can go about 1 to 2 weeks before I need to sit it on the charger. Without question, I'd stick to wireless but then again I don't play games or anything.

FerrariEnzo 09-11-2010 11:26 AM

i have both.. dont really notice a difference with lag or battery life...

but if your playing a game and your mouse/keyboard dies.. haha... always need to have batts handy in case this happens...

Euro7r 09-11-2010 12:15 PM

It really depends on your purpose. If your going to be using it all day, it would be better to get wired, or else you'll be having to recharge that quite often.

If you are gamer, you would probably take wired over wireless as there may something be delay.

On my logitech wireless keyboard I was able to use it for a year everyday before the battery died. I don't think keyboards running out of batteries is too much of an issue anymore.

DanHibiki 09-11-2010 01:28 PM

Thanks for the info guys.

I'm not a hardcore pc gamer but I do play games on it from time to time.

I think I'll just get a wired one and wait til I see a really good deal for a wireless one later. I just want wireless for when I watch stuff that streams from my pc to tv. It's a hassle to get up and go over to the pc to pause and stuff.

I've used both and I definitely prefer wired.

I've got a Razer Arctosa at the moment. Not a bad keyboard. I like it because the letters are all blacked out, and the keyboard's black, so you can't read ANY of the keys. Better know how to type. ;)

Aren't the keys backlit?

Lol that's what I bought today thinking the keys would be back lit but they aren't! It's just black!

Need to exchange now...

I've always gone with a wired keyboard, never used a wireless one before. Have the Saitek Eclipse right now, it's a pretty good keyboard.

Only time I'd consider wireless is when/if I get an HTPC and do some couch surfing on the HDTV.

InvisibleSoul 09-11-2010 10:28 PM

Question: Have you had many situations where you said "Damn, I wish my keyboard was wireless."?

If no, get a wired keyboard.

For a regular computer, I would definitely get a wired keyboard. Don't have to deal with the hassle of replacing batteries and such.

However, for other computers like a HTPC, then of course you want a wireless keyboard.

Alby 09-11-2010 11:14 PM

wired keyboard all the way.

KuSouL 09-12-2010 05:13 AM

i use the apple wireless keyboard just cause i have tv as my monitor and i sit at a distance

when i first got sc2 and was gaming like crazy ... the battery would die in about 3 days ~ not so much the above mentioned lag problem but switching batteries every 3 days is just ridiculous

wired or wireless = depends on how much you use your keyboard

SkinnyPupp 09-12-2010 05:19 AM

Almost every wireless keyboard I have used is crap, even the expensive ones

But i have the new Logitech DiNovo, and it is fantastic

Wireless mice though, forget it
