Well this is gay.. I emailed BOTH my group partners about 5 days ago. Neither replied and then I find out they are both best friends in the same program.
LOL what are the chances I get partnered up with them? Anyways not sure what else to do? I was trying to break the nice with them and either scared the shit outta them or they really are rude. I heard their set is full of douches anyways...
but yeah.. they both replied to a discussion today too and in fact show up as online. I wouldn't be surprised if they are sitting in a lab together lol. But they don't have 2 mins to spare to email me back? Seems pretty rude....
I know SFU and Langara had students that were fairly chill and easy going to talk too. So far BCIT has given me bad vibes.
Give it some time.
BCIT students are typically the shy, introverted types and can be summarized by this emoticon:
I'd go as far as to say they're downright socially awkward people who lack real life social skills.
I think he is speaking about how he was as an ex-BCITer.
No he wasnt
BTW in regards to taking classes part time that are relevant to your program, if you can, find out which ones are the hardest/most time consuming. Alot of courses are easier part time and you still get the necessary credits towards your certification.
I have credits for a couple classes and I'm glad I do. Even being exempt from one class makes a huge difference and gives you extra time to commit to your other projects.

Where abouts do I find which one is at which time during the full-time program? I'm pretty new to this whole full-time set courses thing. I'd love to be able to take the really early 7am class and maybe another difficult one during summer to make my fall semester a bit easier.

I'd contact admissions first. If they dont know then find out who the program head is and speak with them.

You see them right from the start, the most obvious is their attitude towards group discussions, labs, or assignments. Tests/quizzes speak the most.
You get a good mix of people in part time classes, ranging from fresh out of high school kids, seriously awkward geeks, mature adults who are returning to school with the drive to succeed, or the person who just absolutely does not belong because they're there "just cuz."
Full-time courses, you tend to have people more on the same page, but again, the same observation applies to who is bound to fail and to succeed. And by succeed, I mean those who even bother to try, give a damn, and put in their time and efforts for the team, even if it means earning that minimum passing grade.

While I wasn't in any trades program at BCIT, a close friend of mine was/is. The biggest difference, again through observation, is that in trades, you're working with these people, face to face, as in REAL human contact. You are forced to do the work during class hours because outside of it, hey, it's a different ball park.
In HarryT's case, these people get away with what they're doing because outside of school hours, they are allowed to hide behind their computers and simply dismiss any kind of unwelcomed invitation to work with others.

I am generalizing, but again, I'm basing this on my own observation and experience as a BCIT alumni.
There are two groups of people at BCIT (or any post secondary institution for that matter
1. Those who were doomed for failure from the start
2. Those who were determined to succeed
I think you know where your partners belong.
Well I do know half their full time class failed within the first 2 terms. Only a few of them left now and so far they seemed very cocky. In fact someone else in another set mentioned that they seem pretty rude and bitter too.
As for my partners.. hard to say. I mean one of them "seems" pretty successful? She has a degree from SFU, and works and now is doing this FT program. So I kinda expected them to be a bit mature. Oh well. I got another partner now and so far he's been great with replying with emails and getting back. In fact he also wants to meet up soon too.
