tell UPS to fck off... another forum member on NiClub got hit up 40 something dollars UPS charges on a $30 item just last month when they delivered to his front door.

I don't know what their deal is and why they are charging head and shoulders above other shipping companies with all these extra charges.

if anyone could chime in and break it down better I'm curious about it too

Fuck UPS. I remember when I had to go to their gay shipping centre in Richmond to pick up my package because I wasn't home when they tried to deliver it to me.

To make matters worse, I didn't have my car back then and so the walk was ridiculously long too.

Then I had to pay ~$40 or so for their brokerage fee and then a few months later, they sent me a couple of letters under the guise of RMS Collection Agency stating I didn't pay said fee (I definitely did pay or else I wouldn't have even gotten the package) and threatened me to pay it or it'll escalate to some sort of lawsuit.

Mind you, this was around 2 years ago, and after a while, they stopped sending me letters.

You can't ignore it.. unlike Diamond Parking etc. UPS will send it to collections and it will affect your credit.

Since you have cleared it yourself, just phone up UPS and tell them you have cleared it yourself (you might have to fax the documentation to them).. and tell them to void the notice.

Well, I ignored it and like I said, nothing's happened as of yet.

I googled that RMS company and it seems like many people have been through the same situation as me. Many people like me just ignored it and RMS just stops bugging them after a while.

In my case, the reason I didn't call UPS is because I threw out the receipt a couple days after I went to pick up my package, as well as the packaging itself so there was no way to prove I paid the brokerage fee (even though its mandatory you have to pay when you go there to pick it up, or else I wouldn't have gotten it otherwise.)

LOL off topic but are all UPS in van drug fronts or just the one near UBC?
But completely agree with mwr34 whenever I see ebay sellers shipping with UPS I just ignore it, a lot of online companies ship from the states and uk ship with UPS though

Equifax does not report on your credit bureau anything under $100 so you have nothing to worry about. It's just a threat plain and simple.

^We use Purolator most at work, they're not perfect either, but they're WAY better than UPShit or FedExcrement.

My little rant story:

Years ago when my buddy and I were running our own geek-services company, we got an account with FedEx, since I was in Van and he was in Cowtown. He got us a job out there to upgrade a bunch of machines for a small company; I ordered them from A-Power out here, and they (since I had been dealing with the sales manager for many years) very kindly shipped the stuff and deferred asking for payment until we got paid for the job. They asked how we wanted it shipped; we told them to use our FedEx account. They asked if we wanted it ground or air; we said ground, since it would only take one day longer and I wasn't going to be in Calgary until the day after that anyway.

So they told FedEx to send it ground. FedEx sent it air instead. And then wanted to charge us the extra for it (cost about three times as much as ground). So we told them to get bent.

I still have a drawer full of FedEx waybills... anyone wanna start a bonfire?
