It's either sit and spin on your middle finger or magically heal wounds. Right. A close friend of mine died because there are too many people like the OP in this world. What if it was your brother, father, or best friend dying on the ground. Would you sit there peeking out the blinds? Or would you try to help out. It's someones brother, father or best friend after all. It's easy to argue against me. He's a criminal. I don't want to bring potential harm upon myself for something I had no involvement in to begin with. etc. etc. etc. But at the end of the day, it comes down to moral obligation to help out your fellow man. Fuk what he did before. It's not important. These moments are what separate people into clear categories. I am not a religious man by any stretch of the imagination, but if there happened to be a god who evaluated peoples lives at the pearly whites, this may be the kind of situation he could use to sort us out. If your biggest contribution to this planet is a first hand account of a(n) [ attempted] murder to an online forum after an all night Starcraft marathon. I sincerely hope you have bigger plans for the future. Anyhow, do I honestly think the OP could have saved the man's life? Snowball in hell. But, it's the process that disappoints. I guess everyone can't and shouldn't care, but I hope there are enough who do. |
That sucks....i really need to move. |
hmm like i had said by the time i actually realized someone was shot (and not just shots fired) people were already on their phones and comforting the guy if the situation had happened again i still wouldnt go to the window and look because i dont know if its over; i wouldnt want to bring risk to anyone in my house or myself i went when i deemed it safe and when i saw what had actually happened again others were already doing the necessary the news crews were outside just now |
I'm surprised by how many shootings have occurred in Maple Ridge in the past year or two. Hope this guy pulls through. Must have been a traumatizing scene. Definitely not what I would expect on a Monday morning. Kev |

I'm sorry your friend passed away, however, you need to channel your anger to the people that killed him, rather than the people who witnessed the aftermath. Kev |

Anyhow, I hope you share the little information you do have with the right people. About the car you saw, etc. Good luck. |
Here is the news story Quote:

Ranting? I can guarantee you when everything is said and done, a lot of people will have read this thread. If it makes one person reconsider how to approach this type of situation, it's a success as far as I'm concerned. Doesn't seem like so much of a rant from that perspective. |

So, what you do in this situation is call the cops. Nothing else. Maybe take some pictures, without flash, and pray nobody sees you. You don't know if there's just one guy. You don't know what the shooter will think if he sees another witness, or, God forbid, someone that saw his/her face. Keep in mind he just assassinated someone, what's to keep him from doing someone else. The OP was just trying to vent. It's quite traumatic to see someone dying on the street. I've been in the situation, it's not fun. Edit: Just re-read your post. I'm sorry about your friend, but, to be honest, there's very little a person can do about gunshot wounds. Best someone can do is call the cops and stay away from it. I remember a recent happening in my hometown, a few clocks away from where I used to live, in which a robber killed a guy on the street, and then shot and killed a guy that was on his balcony that witnessed everything. Wrong place, wrong time. Most people don't want to be the guy on the balcony. |
targeted hit on a scumbag. my eyes remain dry. 1 down 1000's to go. |

I was hoping someone would mention that, lmao. on a serious note: Why are people ranting about doing something for the guy who got shot? I'm pretty sure my life comes before someone elses, especially in a situation like this. Would you really run out after a shooting to go see if you can do something about it? You can say yes on a forum but when it actually happens it doesn't matter who is getting shot. Unless your batman you're not doin' shit. |

Well we've given our statements I ended up recalling some suspicious activity earlier over the summer involving a car that fits the description of the suspect i didnt want to get anymore involved but thought that i should let them know in case it helps so i went out and gave another statement and i think this may have spurred my neighbour to finally come out and give his statement (i think he was the first on scene) and the officers seem to be speaking to him extensively im not sure if i've already said this but I don't care what kind of history the victim has no one deserves what i saw today i'm quite sure this guy was a homeless man too as i recall seeing a similar person riding a bicycle through the neighbourhood many times in the past so his "well known to police" could just be petty thefts for food for all we know, even if it wasn't it wouldn't matter not to me not after how i saw him I saw video feed of him arriving at Vancouver by the Heli-Ambulance and I hope he'll pull through he looked like he had colour to him at least now to answer the comedic questions (as it eases my mood) No, it wasn't a nice bicycle it looked like he had pulled it out of a trash can No, i didn't win the game as i stopped playing (it was a custom game 'Nexus Wars') |
"It appears this was a targeted shooting" How many people get shot 6 times and its a random attack? |
I'm pretty sure I know why he was shot.... Spoiler! Berz out. |
a little update looks like at least one of the bullets actually got lodged in my neighbours van door |
lol @ ppl talking like they are superheros and would just run out and save the day.. You realize how many cops and military people get shot every year because when someone is shooting at them they cant shoot back.. The scary thing is they are using video games to make it not happen as much but in a situation like this you can say "I'd do this and you are a pussy if you couldnt" but unless you are actually in that situation you cant say what you would do cuz you have no fucking idea.. |
You can't respawn in real life guys. Get real. |
^real talk |
Why is it that when I read the title of this thread I think of Ke$ha.... Berz out. |
well they've finished with the scene and packed up and left they had the fire department come and clean up/wash out the blood looks like they forgot 1 barrier though its just laying on the ground |
this reminds me of that HK hostage thread... lol, the people that are idle vs the ones that take initiative... am i the only guy that agrees with hurricane? i woulda at least ran out after the shooter left, and called 911 as soon as i saw the dude regardless if i thought someone else called. ran out after i thought the shooter was gone, see if the dude was still even conscious, if not there's not much i can do except remember details like how many shots, who where when, maybe if he's conscious talk to him and maybe hear what he has to say or comfort him. lol "i looked out my blinds". c'mon people. everything else is just an excuse. at least go out there, if anything, you can face death itself, and look into the eye of a dying man so that you can appreciate your life more. lol scared of being psychologically fucked? c'mon, what you gonna do, go back and play some modern warfare and kill 50 people and laugh about it? a butcher shop is more gory than this. if you can't handle this, tell me, what the fuck can you handle in this harsh world? death is the most fucking common thing you will come across in this fucked up world. everyman should want to help your fellow brother, especially if he's dying. |
