it wouldve been a more humane thing to do if you actually called the cops, and went outside at the scene to at least see what you can help with...... maybe at least help the people that were treating the dude before paramedics came..?

StylinRed 09-20-2010 06:14 PM

hmm i must have been unclear in my first post... i was actually outside and standing by him before i couldnt take it anymore and went back in

i didnt just check it out from my window and went back to the couch figuring "someones doing something"

the first thing i did was peak out my window, didn't see anything then i hear my cousin yell "someone was shot" that's when i went outside; saw one neighbour on the phone who said it was with the police, my cousin bent over and a lady speaking to the suspect and a few others standing by

thats when i went back in; i don't know any first aid what medical jargan i know isn't going to help i saw all the blood and writhing and i was like "that's enough"

i wish i could do more but i couldn't and im very happy that the person is still alive by the time i went back in the paramedics were already down the street (they arrived amazingly fast)

edit: and subsequently gave statements to the officers in charge giving any relevant info i could think of

flagella 09-20-2010 06:15 PM

everyman should want to help your fellow brother, especially if he's dying.

Even if he just stole your bike?

Berz out.

yeah, specificity, telling a story properly is a skill that will reap you great reward sometime down the road, and avoid mass flaming and shit like this lol.

Another gangbanger got shot. Too bad he is not dead.

StylinRed 09-20-2010 09:05 PM

yes because being "known to police" automatically means he's a gangster (that's already proven to be false) and even if he were does that automatically make him a dirtbag that deserves to die? realistically, no.

There are corporations killing more people everyday than the mere gangster

google coca~cola murders/death squads; or chiquita banana terrorism; or locally at banks that made their bread&butter by supporting gangsters fighting against prohibition laws (i can go on for ages)

Jegz 09-20-2010 09:21 PM

Surprised the dudes alive.

StylinRed 09-20-2010 10:30 PM

omg its so fucking stupid when i hear people here telling OP to fucking help and do something.... seriously what can anyone do to help the guy before the paramedics arrive without risking more injury or even death???

because mr fucking first aid is gonna know how to help someone with bullet wounds right?

OP you need to elevate his head and put pressure on those bullet holes or else we're gonna call you a fucking pussy. dont forget mouth to mouth.

i know what you were saying, and thanks..

but what i quoted right there... that's made me feel horrible... that's something i should know, do know... that's probably what everyone knows... but not one person did that... and i just cant stop thinking if he'd be in better shape if i had

i've tried to see if there was any updates about him asked a couple reporters and there were officers on the street this morning questioning people

but no one knows anything.

Tammi77 09-21-2010 02:27 PM

So, what you do in this situation is call the cops. Nothing else. Maybe take some pictures, without flash, and pray nobody sees you. You don't know if there's just one guy. You don't know what the shooter will think if he sees another witness, or, God forbid, someone that saw his/her face. Keep in mind he just assassinated someone, what's to keep him from doing someone else.

The OP was just trying to vent. It's quite traumatic to see someone dying on the street. I've been in the situation, it's not fun.

Edit: Just re-read your post. I'm sorry about your friend, but, to be honest, there's very little a person can do about gunshot wounds. Best someone can do is call the cops and stay away from it.

I remember a recent happening in my hometown, a few clocks away from where I used to live, in which a robber killed a guy on the street, and then shot and killed a guy that was on his balcony that witnessed everything. Wrong place, wrong time. Most people don't want to be the guy on the balcony.

A close friend of mine died because there are too many people like the OP in this world.

What if it was your brother, father, or best friend dying on the ground. Would you sit there peeking out the blinds? Or would you try to help out. It's someones brother, father or best friend after all.

It's easy to argue against me. He's a criminal. I don't want to bring potential harm upon myself for something I had no involvement in to begin with. etc. etc. etc.

But at the end of the day, it comes down to moral obligation to help out your fellow man. Fuk what he did before. It's not important. These moments are what separate people into clear categories.

I am not a religious man by any stretch of the imagination, but if there happened to be a god who evaluated peoples lives at the pearly whites, this may be the kind of situation he could use to sort us out.

If your biggest contribution to this planet is a first hand account of a(n) [ attempted] murder to an online forum after an all night Starcraft marathon. I sincerely hope you have bigger plans for the future.

Anyhow, do I honestly think the OP could have saved the man's life? Snowball in hell. But, it's the process that disappoints. I guess everyone can't and shouldn't care, but I hope there are enough who do.

Kenneth Corey Heathron, 36, shot Monday morn in Maple Ridge, has died. Was well known to police. Homicide team taking over.

Same guy I'm assuming.

StylinRed 09-22-2010 03:45 PM

omg.. that is horrible

i read some comments in articles the day of and two people referred to him as Kenny, one saying that he shouldn't have gotten involved with his "crackwhore gf"

i really don't believe this guy was a "gangster" just a semi-homeless addict

METRO VANCOUVER — A man shot Monday while riding his bike in Maple Ridge has died from his injuries, police said Wednesday.

He is identified as Kenneth Corey Heathorn, 36, of Maple Ridge.

“Heathorn is very well known the Maple Ridge RCMP for his involvement in criminal activity, specifically the street level drug trade and other crimes associated to the street level drug trade,” Cpl. Dale Carr of the Integrated Homicide Investigative Team said in a press release. “Heathorn survived being the victim of a shooting nearly two years ago where he was shot in the abdomen,” Carr added.

“Investigators are looking into the theory that this incident is linked to drugs, gangs or organized crime.”
