cool in theory, doubt it's practical..honestly how accurate do you think the wifi triangulation would work?

and the alert is stupid (at least for laptops), the thief can easily just remove the HDD and format it on another computer...good as new again.

Wifi triangulation is not accurate. It all goes through some 3rd party database and could well be known to have bad/inaccurate access point data. The best it'll do is give you a general location of where it is in most cases.

Watched the video this time lol. It does some neat stuff. But all it will do is track it. It's not like you'll be able to bust down the guys door and grab your laptop back. As well the IP information is useless without a subpoena to the ISP to get subscriber information. Going to police with this information may not do much either as they may not trust or take your data seriously. And yes all the theif needs to do is format the Mac lol.

Probably better to just plant a physical gps thingy-ma-bob somewhere inside your computer. Like how you would do it for your car.

lol if you send a message like that, you'll never get your laptop back. If you're lucky you might get a pic of the guy, but that's only if it gets turned on and connected to wifi before being formatted...most people dealing in stolen laptops would know to format the drive right away...

You'd be surprised. Most thieves aren't that smart.
