What are you looking for?? For computers you get what you pay for.. If you want a cheap POS system go to MDG.. If you want brand name parts on sale, look at NCIX or Dell's promotions.. Best your gonna get. I guarantee you no mom and pop shop will beat these retailers. Most mom and pop shops sell refurb machines that are good deals.

NCIX is good if you intend on building your own.

Packages aren't usually that great for pricing I find. Still better than the big chain stores tho

I've done well at Staples lately for laptops. Check out their pricing against what ever you're looking for.

If you want a laptop that will last you 1 year.. Yes staples has good pricing but bad quality notebooks... Like base of base..

Really? I haven't had any problems with any of the comps we've bought here in the office through them as far as their integrity as machines.

What specs depend on what you're doing with it too. If you're a gamer you buy a comp that is going to handle gaming, if you're just doing home work and visiting rev scene... you'll do just fine with Staples (or Costco or Futureshop).

It really depends on how you take care of it.. Most home users dont really put all the care in their notebook.. By so i mean when putting them down they are rough.. Just the basic daily use will wear out... Ive had over 20+ customers come in with a cheap staples/fs/bb notebook to tell me their warranty is over and something has died on the system.. Ive seen it way too many times. That i never recommend a cheap notebook. You get what you pay for.

I think the key here is they "come in with their CHEAP...." of course if its a cheap notebook to begin with, it's gunna die faster. That and the fact that most computer users are idiots anyway.

Thats the problem people see a $499 deal and thinks it a steal.. But really you get what you pay for.
