Not exactly.

The dimming is not accomplished by lowering the voltage, it's done by pulsing the power to the light. Because incandescent filaments build up to full brightness over time (a few dozen milliseconds), and go dark at a similar rate when power is removed, typical light dimmers cycle the power on-and-off quickly - an 80% on/20% off cycle will dim slightly, 50% on/off will dim further, 20% on/80% off will be very dim.

When you do this with LED fixtures that aren't designed for it, you just get a flashing effect until the power shuts off entirely.

It works the same with household dimmers, which is why most don't recommend use with fluorescent lights; this is why if you want to replace those bulbs with CFL or LED, you have to be sure to get the "dimmable" types of bulbs that will compensate for it.

There was a thread about this in a Jeep forum a couple years ago where a guy tried to add some LED footwell lighting to his Patriot and ran into the same issues. Since Jeep is currently made by Chrysler, I would expect your truck to have similar if not identical lighting, and probably suffer from the same problem.

Not saying don't do it, just saying, be aware of the issue and be prepared for it not to work as expected.
Thanks everyone for the replies. The lights turn off right away when they are used manually, but when exiting the vehicle they fade away. I'll look into led's that possibly have the fading feature.

This is a good standby.

Also, check with grocery stores. A friend that works at Save-On got us a ton of apple boxes, they're super-sturdy.

Depending on the brand of oven you need it for i guess... Try those Trail appliance stores (one on grandview and rupert IIRC). Or Sears appliance stores... They probably have to order one in.

Home Depot will not carry any parts.

Refrigerator Water Filters | GE | Whirlpool | Maytag | KitchenAid | Reliable Parts

Like bartone said, Trail Appliances has a Reliable Parts express centre in store. Chances are one of their locations in BC or the distribution centre will have it.

Most auto-parts places, I would think - Cambodian Tire, Lordco, etc. Also try offroad shops and/or truck customization shops.

Or if you know the brand of the oven, check the manufacturer's website for a list of service centers. Trail and/or Reliable will probably come up for a lot of them, but that's the best way if you have an off brand or something. Mfr. site will also have the exact part number, so when you call up the parts shop, you can just ask for that.

Try Sally-Ann, Value Village, etc. I see those kinds of things there all the time. (Yes, I like to browse the thrift stores - you come up with some neat finds now and then.)

Cutlery, Kitchen Utensils & Sharpening | House of Knives - they're in most malls. Store locations on the website.
