I was quoted 560.10 for all 4 tires + install. I gave them a 50 dollar deposit. Did the tirerack 97/tire match then they included shipping of 12 dollars each. So like 110/tire.

$110 for which size conti?

205/55/16 and they are now backordered for another two weeks.

I think I might just order them from tirerack and avoid the taxes (8.5) and have them installed in the states.

Ship to blaine, pick up and install.

It is cheaper than having them ordered from discount tire co because they take into account shipping when price matching. Going to call in tomorrow or sat to cancel my order.

97x4 = 388 + shipping to blaine (51.34) = 439.34
439.34 x conversion rate x 2.5 MC rate = around 455

Then I picking up from Hagen's is like 4x3.5= 14

455+14= 469

Installation is like 16/tire? 16x4=64

469+64=533

i might as well just order from tire rack since the washington taxes would be ~$40-50. my size is backordered too for 2 weeks.

wouldn't hagens consider the 4 tires as one package and just go by weight . so it would be $5 (45-100lbs)

thanks saving me the time on figuring out everything.

All the better.

I'll let you know when my tires come in or what not. If yours comes in before mine, tell me how your story goes.

Where are you planning to have them installed?

Meowjin 11-05-2010 12:07 AM

anyone have any experience with the michilen sport A/S?

What's a good brand to go for that's cheaper? it's 923 after install and balance :(

that sucks. oh well, better than paying the canadian price for tires.

Meowjin 11-05-2010 01:33 PM

how much does it cost to get tires mounted here? I'm contemplating just going to discount tire. IF I order from tirerack the tires are 750 with shipping + there is a 70 dollar rebate http://www.tirerack.com/images/tires...ichelin_TR.pdf

but If I buy from discount tire it's 900 fully mounted balanced warrantied etc...

CRS 11-06-2010 01:13 AM

Better question is where can you mount/balance the tires in the states but not buy your tires from that store?

nns 11-06-2010 10:01 AM

Discount Tire. I don't think they care where you buy your tires from. It's still a service they provide.

Speaking of Discount Tire, they said they would call me back to return my deposit of 50 dollars and I have yet to hear anything.

I'm going to give them a few days and if they do not, I will give them back. If there isn't an immediate solution, I'm going to dispute the charge on my CC.

And I went to the Costco in Burlington but it seemed like they don't mount + balance tires that aren't bought at Costco. Seemed odd to me...?

Holy crap, 10/tire with mount and balance.

But then again... It's walmart... :lol

Mother eff, delayed again.

TheSalesman 11-09-2010 07:49 PM

Those mail in rebates are only good for residents of the US from what I found...

keifun 11-09-2010 10:57 PM

^not all. Theres a yokohama tire rebate on Discount Tire Direct thats valid for both US and Canadian residents.

CRS 11-09-2010 11:04 PM

Michelin should be valid too because we have the same rebate here.

$70 off when you get set of 4.

hmmm really? damn.
I guess it was just for the tires I was looking at. It said for residents of the US only. Especially the ones where they give you a pre paid MC or Visa.

I just checked the 2 mail in rebates on the DTD site and both forms say it's for US residents only.

my size conti EWC are backordered. the guy said it would take about 8-10 weeks to get a new shipment. he recommended michelin x-ice xi2, so i got those instead. rather have tires ready than have to wait until January.

I wonder if I can use this rebate.
http://www.michelinpromo.ca/Fall2010MICHELIN_ENG.pdf

if not i can get the american rebate sent to hagens. spent 3 bucks for $70.

CRS 11-10-2010 02:44 PM

I just changed my order from tirerack from the extremewintercontacts to XI2.

Either way, i'm sure I'll be satisfied with the results.

As for the rebate, I think you need to have a US BILLING address vice a US shipping address.

Though you may want to give Michelin a call to find out personally if the Canadian one works.

7seven 11-12-2010 11:49 AM

I ordered a set of X-ice2 from Tirerack on Wednesday morning, and just got a email confirming they arrived in Blaine, pretty quick service.

Are you using Hagen's as well? They have some weird online thing now...

42lbs per package ftw!

P.S. Did they call you?
