EGR Blocker plate Hi, i bought a 1992 mr2 LHD recently and i just discovered that the person who sold me his mr2 took out the EGR valves and put a blocker on it since the EGR was leaking. Now my questions is, does anyone here also have an EGR blocker plate installed and did it pass or fail aircare? Also i read up that the EGR blocker plate will prevent soot buildup, however what are the long term disadvantage with the EGR blocker plate? thanks |
If your EGR is deleted it can cause some CEL's to show up, and when aircare scans your car, that CEL will cause you to instantly fail. If you don't have any CEL's, I would go ahead and try it. All the EGR does is stop/limit some NO (nitrogen oxides) from forming by recirculating exhaust gas. On my truck i did an intake manifold swap, and to do that I had to block the EGR. I'd say risk it, I passed fine with it deleted (Although I had to get a custom tune to get rid of the CEL). |
