Wind and Mobilicity are currently my favourite in terms if prices but sometimes their reception isn't that good. I've seen texts come in a day late before. That only happens a few times though out of hundreds of texts. Give it a try if reception isn't a huge deal for you.

do NOT sign on any deals right now, wait until chinese new years with better deals.

to tell you the truth, WIND right now is the worse, if you are GVRD and in downtown and also yaletown then it might be good, but ANYWHERE else, it sucks.

Mobilicity is good right now and it's a start, it will attack fido and telus so plans will continue to be very competitive so please please HOLD OFF on any deals until the next big deal.

im in east maple ridge and have a solid 4 bars in my house with Wind (Home zone)

been to langely coquitlam etc and ive always been under WIND HOME

although ive had a couple times where its said "Wind Away" in the strangest places (that is places that should have a solid Home connection) and i just had to reboot my phone and it would be in Home again (with full bars)

.

I disagree with this. Coming from rogers, I've been on both wind and mobilicity. Dropped from rogers to city fido almost 10 years ago, then dropped city fido to winds' always talk plan, then moved to mobilicity's $40 plan and now back on wind's $40 shout+infinite plan. Fido when it first came out had horrible reception. I was out in surrey and maybe got 1 bar at my home. Once it developed, it became great. I didnt see the 'premium' edge rogers had over fido to justify the price difference. On wind, I did have a few dropped calls, even so, it was like 1 in 50 calls that would get dropped. Reception in richmond is fantastic. Inside my concrete condo, reception is 4/5 bars all the time and data is constant and fast. When going out to delta and langley on wind, I've always had no issue with reception, even out in pitt meadows i would get 1-2 bars out in the middle of nowhere. Mobillicity has amazing coverage for a brand new service less than a month old. Voice quality is clearer than wind's and I've never had a dropped car. Data however, is horrible. On my vibrant I got a data connection 2% of the time even when having full bars of service. Something is not right on their data network, so I went back to wind. However I'm confident mobilicity will sort out it's bugs and have a great data network as well.

In terms of phones, I dont see why anyone would pick telus phones over wind/mobilicity's, unless you swear by the iphone.

I dont think 1/50 dropped calls and a few deadspots that will eventually get worked out can justify paying a premium for 200 mins vs unlimited. Personally I'd much rather redial a number on rare occasions and have the privilege of not having to minute count. Than have 95% no call drop chance on 200 mins of talk time a month.

Honestly, this whole 'horrible' reception thing was started by Rogers to keep customers. My advice is to take advantage of wind/mobilicity's return policy and give them a shot first and try out their service within the area you frequent most. If you find you're having less than ideal bars of service, then return it and go to telus. But if you find their service is great for where you are, then you'll be saving yourself a ton of money a month, and have the peace of mind of not having to minute count and have the freedom of call anyone anytime you want.
