telus student 40 - good deal?

yeah what do you think?

100mb 200min unlim txt and call with 10faves for $40/mo.

Or is there a better equivalent deal out there with other carriers? I'm all ears.

TOS'd 10-18-2010 03:13 AM

1. Who are you with now
2. How long have you been with them
3. Negotiate retentions plan
4. ?????
5. Profit

asian_XL 10-18-2010 03:53 AM

$40 for 100mb?!? damn...why Canada is so damn behind.

Strzelec 10-18-2010 11:18 AM

If you are going to use a berry, and can somehow sneak free caller id out of retentions, imo its not a bad plan. The berry wont use more than 100megs unless you stream or surf A LOT.

!MiKrofT 10-18-2010 02:33 PM

It's a combined voice/data plan. Not just data.

Wife just got an iPhone 4 at Best Buy... they got her on some sort of Telus student plan that gives her 200 anytime minutes (fine since she's at work all day), evenings and weekends starting at 6pm, 10 favorites, unlimited text, and 1GB data, all for $55.

Jsunu 10-21-2010 09:00 AM

Look into the rogers student plans as well. Its 10 bucks more but you get 500mb, 6pm eve weekends, unlimited txt, and either earlier evenings/network calling (fido/rogers)/my five.

seakrait 11-12-2010 04:56 PM

i had to bitch at telus today but i ended up with

300 anytime minutes
6pm evenings
unlimited texting
caller id
voicemail 10
500mb data
call waiting
conference calling

all for $50+tax etc.. comes up to ~$56+/mth.

falcon 11-12-2010 08:12 PM

I got a Bell student account a week or so ago along with an Iphone 4.

250min
6PM eve/wknd

If you guys need deals on the phone itself, PM me, because I work for TELUS and they have this friends and family deal out. If you guys are interested in the htc surround or lg optimus 7, only till tomorrow, they are giving away free xbox 360s (and obviously while quantities last)

ilvtofu 12-18-2010 10:21 AM

I think the 100mb would worry me every month, even when I was on BB I would go up to 110-120 mb every month and I used edge data :/ since you're on android I'd probably get a 500mb plan, the 200min is weak if it's billed by the minute and no evenings/weekends

With wind and mobilicity out there, why is this thread even needed? It's like asking if you are getting a deal while being ripped off...

6793026 12-18-2010 02:31 PM

do NOT sign on any deals right now, wait until chinese new years with better deals.

to tell you the truth, WIND right now is the worse, if you are GVRD and in downtown and also yaletown then it might be good, but ANYWHERE else, it sucks.

Mobilicity is good right now and it's a start, it will attack fido and telus so plans will continue to be very competitive so please please HOLD OFF on any deals until the next big deal.

I agree, but at the same time it depends what phone he wants to use...

Because Wind and Mobilicity still have their limitations as well. The old saying holds true, "If it sounds too good to be true, it probably is."
