Car Randomly Turning Off

Today I was driving my car down cananda way, first the engine light went on, then the oil light, then the engine just turned off and my breaks stopped working. I had to pull the ebrake slowly and when I stopped. I couldn't turn on the car. There seems to be a clicking that I can't indentify and I'm not sure what to do now. I parked it on canada way and 8th and I don't have the money or BCAA to tow it. I tried jumping the car but I highly doubt that's the problem because I just got a new battery. The timing belt and water pump were done not even 15K ago.

Check the oil level if you haven't. Your engine may be seized.

Why not try jumping it? that way you can eliminate if it's a battery/alternator issue, or mechanical.

If your timing belt is loose it may have skipped, in which case you are definitely fucked. I would have it towed back to the shop that did the timing belt work.

The starter should still turn the engine over, unless something seized the engine.

It may be "Crankwalk"
http://www.car-forums.com/s15/t4460.html
http://www.overbore.com/?go=Define.CrankWalk

Symptoms associated with the crankwalk:

Clutch sensitivity, strange disengage and engage points.
Ticking or strange noise from the pulley side of the engine when clutch is depressed.
Crank Angle Sensor errors ( check engine light )
Difficulty shifting
RPMS decreasing significantly when clutch pedal is depressed.
Clutch does not return or "sticks" to the floor after being depressed

It is at the mechanics right now, I'll go check on it tomorrow, but the more i read about it, the more i believe it was a crank walk. Loosing your first car is depressing.

That's why you don't buy shitty cars.

Shitty deal. Keep us posted.
Live and learn. This is a common problem for talons and eclipses. I'm surprised that you've never heard about it before.

Good luck.

Okay, turns out I'm lucky. It wasn't a crank walk, but apprently the timing belt that I got scammed on a few months back was done all wrong and pretty much ruined the entire car. I was told 800 to fix it and get a new headgasket. So I'm going to get it fixed so its running good again. Then I'm going to sell it and hopefully upgrade to a GSR
Cause my choices are now either junk it or fix it

^go after the shop that did your timing belt, they should be responsible for your repair+towing

just make sure you can prove that they made a mistake

I'm curious as to how the shop screwed up doing your timing belt. You would have noticed right away if the belt was put on wrong, and not a few months down the road. Did the tensioner come loose and timing jumped?

When you buy older cars they need maintenance, especially if they need maintenance that was never done. Do your homework next time to avoid cars that need expensive maintenance soon after purchasing.
