MSN Live Messenger 2011 Just got an "important" update message on my work computer. Boy was that a mistake to update. The new msn live messenger, what do you guys think? I personally am loathing it. They no longer have one way video. Your nickname changed only online and done in a First Name, Last name basis. Your display pic is also changed online. They keep a record of your taglines. Sorry wtf?! Girl does not approve. ...might like it later since I just got it 20 minutes ago. Unlikely though. |
It's essentially a program based facebook now. Posted via RS Mobile |
I think yeah, that they're trying to combine features people like in facebook and twitter. I've gone to using Skype for most of my online messanging cause I don't like the new MSN either. |
Why are people trying so hard to be Facebook? Shit, MSN messenger had stuff going for them, I was on it for a reason!! Why change a good thing into a mediocre wannabe? I'm officially pissed cuz they changed the old emoticons... :( /rant....for now |
i havent use msn for almost year and half... i was a everyday user before and somehow i just got so busy and log in as invisible and slowly i dont even bother open the program up the feeling is great lol |

hmm.. i like skype but not many of my friends use it. |
I personally love the whole "appear online" to certain people one-by-one while you're appearing offline. That's the only new feature I like compared to the old version. But yeah, I totally agree how a lot of changes seem inferior to the previous versions. I mean, the whole display name firstname+lastname bit is pretty ridiculous, for starters. As for the mandatory two-way video instead of having the option of one-way feeds.... well good thing I use Skype for that. MSN-M is merely for chatting with my friends who actually still use it. Skype is pretty much superior in almost every way in comparison. |
Appearing online selectively was available in the old ICQ days, I don't know why it disappeared for so long. It IS a handy feature. But yeah. Go Skype Go. |
I barely use MSN now too. I've only started using it again but not really. It's been around a year and a half I think since I was on MSN all the time. Now I use Skype for all of my online messaging. Everyone should migrate to skype ;). I like being able to make groups and being able to stay in the group convo even if you close it. |
This thing is bloated as fuck. A lot of tech message boards are recommending Trillian 5 and it looks pretty good actually. Really minimalist and lightweight. |
bag of shit msn ftl |
i just unchecked on all the new features and make it into the old MSN. I dun have enough friends anyways. |
msn has changed too much. I agree people should switch to skype its so much better Posted via RS Mobile |
Adium on the Mac enhances my MSN Messenger experience sooooo much. |
You can redownload the old msn if you wanted to. Thats what I did. Version 2009 Build 14. |
I system restored that bitch within 5 minutes |
i wanna downgrade =( Which site is reliable to dl Version 2009 Build 14. Other sites seem so sketchy, |
I like the new MSN. I don't like the new interface, but luckily it can be easily switched. Also, I fucking HATE the way it intercepts URLs with a warning page. |

Kind of a shame since they used to be popular though the site was never very good in terms of layout. Here's a guide to uninstall and where to download older versions that will work: http://www.forumvancouver.com/thread...sion-2009.531/ |
