1966 Austin Healey
 

My family has a 1966 Austin Healey 3000 that my grandfather bought new. My dad is pulling out of our garage because he is taking it to Panel craft in Langley next week. He is planning on draining the gas and pulling out the spark plug since it's been sitting for so long, and he was wondering what would be the best thing to spray into the cylinders before starting it. Any advice?

Wow nice rare car. I wouldn't start it without scoping the cylinders for rust first. Then pull the valve cover and lube everything topside and give the valves a push to make sure none are stuck also make sure fresh oil gets poured down the push rod holes to soak the cam in oil. Change all fluids if possible spin up the oil pump till oil makes it topside use a light oil down the cylinders to free up the rings and crank by hand a few times. A new set of points wires plugs cap rotor and rebuilt carbs with some fresh gas and with any luck you'll be all good.
Rebuilding an old Austin motor isn't cheap so don't get lazy with any of these steps. good luck

Alright thanks. I'm not sure if there will be that much rust because it hasn't been that long since it ran last, but I'll definitely mention it.

Was it stored indoors the whole time and how long was it dormant for? It doesn't take much rust or tarnish on the cylinder walls to ruin the rings and camshaft.
