In Taiwan (Danshui) they had one of those stuffed-animal (like the ones you'd see in a carnival with the robotic arm and joystick) machines, but it went over a tank full of crabs instead of a pile of stuffed toys. Yes I have a photo, but it's on film.

Chinese ppl think of the darnedest business ideas.

That's pretty much one step beyond how they sell them normally, so I'm not that surprised by this... They usually store them in a refrigerator, all bundled up (but still alive) and someone grabs them with tongs for you.
