try working retail... a lot of ppl hiring for the holiday season at the mall.. looks good on a resume, fast paced, hard working, customer service.

yeah dude, it's just a job. who cares what you do? the plumbers get paid the big bucks for a shitty job. at least, you're not cleaning shit you're simply soaking fries into oil. plus, i heard your chances of getting hired after a while of working to mcdonalds is high.

you don't have any experience at all. think about it if you were a manager, would you want to hire someone with some work experience or none at all?

don't let something like a fast food restaurant job make you self-concious. people need to make money to live, they'll do whatever. some people in third world countries can't even get a decent job like mcdonalds. value of a dollar, food for thought. lots of young girls work at mcdonalds for you to flirt with to, upside.

if you don't want mcdonalds, work at scotiabank theatre(downtown) they're always hiring. if you're really self-concious and don't want to be seen, work at a calling centre. they're always hiring on craigslist, always. but they're just soooooooo boring regardless of what they pay.

Retail can be super fun if the other staff are around the same age and attractive.

I had some great times working at The Gap during University.

Starbucks is also a GREAT first job. Through them you'll get cash handling training and food safe and a plethora of customer services experience. They pay over minimum wage with the potential for raises every 6 months.

Also consider Tim Hortons. Their pay varies a bit as they're franchised but I believe they pay over min wage and have again great training and benifits as well as very very flexible hours.

they have little applications on the table next to the box office, pay is $8/hr get to watch free movies. if you work for concession, make sure to snatch some cineplex night out coupons for when you go to another theatre for popcorn.

Your first job is the toughest to get, good luck bud!

My first job was at a warehouse sweeping the floors, their starting wage was $15 an hour and were totally flexible if I had tests to study for or just a lot of homework. If I'd just emailed them my resume i doubt they would have given it a second look, but I rode my bike to the warehouse, talked to the manager and impressed him. Maybe try the same thing and you'll get lucky like I did.
