what your thoughts on gs300 / aristo?

looking to buy an comfy affordable sedan.

i had my eyes on a used 1st gen gs300 and eventually getting it look VIP style

does anybody have any input regarding

reliability?
maintenance?
gas mileage?
aftermarket support?

how reliable is the 2JZ-GE? is it easy to find a shop that works on it?

Get the aristo and you get the turbo version of the the GS300 the only drawback is the whole RHD thing...

Berz out.

get an aristo, or atleast 2jzgte swap the gs300.
the 2jzge is reliable but is a complete slug.

parts are super easy to come by for the rhd aristo.
for the drive train you can get parts from the supra tt, and the body and suspension use gs300.

for the price, there are not a whole lot of sedans that can touch it (boost up)

sourcing what parts?
everything is interchangable with the gs. You can walk into a lordco and order whatever you need

Dont get the GS300, get the Aristo. Cant go wrong with a 2JZ-GTE.
And pretty sure parts are easy to find.

Question is why go RHD when you can opt for LHD, If you have the money I'd much prefer the swapped GTE into an LHD car than an RHD that came with it. Just my 2 cents because I feel like it's worth the extra money. I am just assuming this, but wouldn't a local car have better documentation of it's history?

Doesnt sound like TS has a big budget if he is considering a 20 year old car. There is nothing wrong with a RHD car, just dont be a idiot, take your time and find a clean Aristo.
Finding a clean gs and then sourcing the engine and all the bits and pieces for a swap is a GIANT pain in the ass.
I've been daily driving my RHD soarer for the pass 2 years without a problem. People that hates on RHD cars probably never driven/owned one, they are just spewing ignorant non-sense.

i sourced out a mint soarer while looking at aristo's and as long as you take your time and buy a clean one, that gets my vote. I daily mine as well and have no problems ( driving it and parts / maintenance ) Gas is pricey but its a sacrifice you have to make from a 4 banger

The JZ motors are as reliable as motors can get, if it was maintain properly

Check the bushings and ball joints. These old cars came with shitty rubber bushings that degrades a lot faster than polyethylene bushings.

Gas mileage sucks donkey ass.
If you stay off the turbos it isnt as bad but it still sucks. plus these cars comes with a giant gas tanks. My soarer takes 78 liters

Aftermarket support is huge. www.supraforums.com www.clublexus.com , its a gold mine for used parts and info

and like i said before, the aristo headlights aren't DOT approved. You'll have to swap em for USDM ones

I was just assuming from the fact that OP wants to make a VIP car he would have some money budgeted towards it. That an OP never said anything about necessarily tracking the car etc. and he seems like he's more in it for the style
Have fun making left turns, and have fun going to fast food drive thrus by yourself

Have you driven a RHD car before? If no, your opinions are invalid. Sorry try again.

You don't need to be shot in the ass before to know it'll hurt. It's tough enough to observe oncoming cars on the left side of the car when you have a car blocking your view waiting to turn left let alone trying to see around that car from another 3 feet to the right. heck I'm not gonna ignore the fact that in some situations there are upsides to have RHD but in that example you really have to stop being so sore about it.

If you don't have a garage to work on the car, or don't have 6 months wages in the bank, you shouldn't tamper with older cars or try to modify.

Too many times I see failed projects in classifieds where some student is trying to re-coop the costs into the car.

Be better at life before spending it on transportation. Facts of life.
