Found: Sports Central iTouch I posted this in the sports and fitness sub forum, but thought maybe try here as well, since it's more active here. Someone left a 2nd gen iTouch in the locker across from mine. I'm guessing not too long before i arrived at the gym which was around 12. I Decided to grab it and hold on to it because the new desk guy is fucking shady and I don't trust him. I checked if there were any contacts saved but there weren't, so I looked at the settings and saw the name was "Oscar's iPod". Hopefully someone on here can claim it. If not I guess I'll hand it to one of the afternoon workers or maybe ask for any Oscars signed up at the gym. |
good for you |
|
Perhaps do the latter of your options and ask if an Oscar signed up. Subsequently, you can post something where you found the ipod touch. |
You sir, are entitled to 4 of my internets |
iTouch. That's something you do when you're alone at night. |
Is there a sign in sheet or is it all electronic? Check with the front desk and just ask if Oscar was in yesterday and if they say "Oscar who" you say "I don't know his last name" and they may tell you it... then you can go from there. Berz out. |
Like some posters have said above, you're a good man. +1  But it might be hard to find the owner through here, might just have to go with your 2nd idea and ask for any Oscars at your gym. |
how bout print something out on paper and tape it to the wall for locker room so ppl can see when they walk in wit a contact number or something on it? |

Good on your bro. I found a BBPearl a few months ago and managed to find the rightfull owner after a week. Feels nice doing the right thing once in a while. Posted via RS Mobile |
I remember leaving my cellphone in a taxi one time when I was in HK.....my dad got a call 10min later and a nice gentleman said he picked up my phone on the taxi..I didn't even know I lost it at that point. He told my dad to call his secreatary the next day to pick it up. Apparently he was the CEO of some SUPER BIG company. What a nice guy for running a silly errand for a random stranger.... Props to OP.... |
Try this... Go to the front desk. Even if its the shady guy. Tell them a guy from the gym left it there last week (or whenever). You were hoping to run into him and give it back because you have talked to him a few times, but you haven't seen him lately. You think his name is Oscar, but your not 100% sure. Tell them you will let him know its at the front desk when you see him next. They really have no choice but to look him up and give it back, otherwise they risk you seeing him again and telling him you put it at the desk. Chances are he has or will ask them anyhow. |

If i were a shady guy and you pull this on me, I'm pretty sure I can get away with the ipod without any trouble. |

To use the phrase "pull this on me" already suggests you are mildly retarded. The guy only knows what you tell him, unless you plan on walking up to the counter all shifty eyed and awkward, and maybe confessing halfway through. What are you interpreting shady to mean anyhow? Sounds to me like the guy is an opportunistic thief at worst, which this plan is designed to eliminate; an easy opportunity. He will expect the guy to come to the counter any day to pick up his Ipod if he doesn't locate him first (how many Oscars can there be), after all its only a matter of time before you two see each other again. Yeah sure, if the guy wants an Ipod so bad he's willing to risk his job and personal safety sure he can take it. He could also meet someone off CL and put a gun down their throat for their Ipod as well. PS common sense would suggest you don't give it to the shady guy anyhow; give it to the manager/owner of the place. If he needs an Ipod that bad, you should probably consider changing gyms. |
look at the facebook app if installed... or look through web history |

So, I finally got around to heading to the gym in the afternoon to catch an afternoon worker to ask for Oscar's number. She gave me a number for an Oscar with no hassle and I called, but he didn't pick up. I was skeptical if it was the right person or not. So, I texted him just in case and an hour later he called back. It was the right Oscar, he was fob lol, but seemed very happy and shocked that his itouch was found. He asked me "why did you go through all the trouble to give it back to me when you could've kept it for yourself and sell it." I Didn't really know what to say so I just said "oh it's fine lol". Gonna meet up with him later tonight and hopefully it's the rightful owner and not some bser. Most likely I will continue to use this approach (if possible) for lost items I find at the gym or anywhere in general because I realized I have no idea if the other shit I've been handing to the gym have been returned to their rightful owners or not... |
