Does where the car is assemble matter?
 

On the autocheck report with the VIN enter, it says the car is assembled in Japan

what is the advantage or disadvantage if the car is assembled in Japan!

most of the car in the repot is either Canada or United State, rarely find in a VIN check that says its assembled in JP

I would say a car assembled from Japan is better because of stricter quality control (I'm assuming its a Honda or a Toyota).

generally cars assembled in japan have a better build quality than cars built in N.A.
if the vin starts with a j its assembled in japan.

on older hondas/acuras the build quality as far as rattles and fit/finish is noticable. Haven't paid attention to the newer models.

I would say if a car is assembled in Japan, that's the best... It just makes everything PURE JDM. JDM car built in North American is more like NAJDM. And in Japan, J D M.

Cars built in Canada or us might lack quality, but keep costs lower because they don't have to ship them over seas..........

Lots of Japanese cars are built in Japan though, not rare....

Manufacturing plant probably knew where the car was headed. Used to be more common for non domestic cars to be shipped over.

JDM stands for Japanese domestic market. The car is built and designed to conform with Japanese standards and tougher quality control, which usually means better build. Engine power may be reduced because of stricter laws outside of Japan for a NA model. Dont know if that is still true with newer models.

The made in...... debate much of its relevance when manufacturers began sharing platforms as vehicle basis.

if u try and import a car from the states and its built outside of north america you have to pay 6.1% duty :p

if it's a lemon, it's a lemon. Doesn't matter if it was assembled in Japan or Mexico.
Do you ahve some stats regarding quality based on mfg plant? I know toyota quality in north america has gone down a bit but i'm not sure about nissan/honda and other japanese manufacturer

i read up on some newer or domestic vehicles now, cuz it can be pretty misleading

the parts are from Japan/Germany, assembled & built in Mexico/US/Canada and sold in NA

i guess the car companies outsource to other countries is to save money, therefore you get plenty of recalls nowadays , kinda sad but it is to save a few bucks

It's all irrelevant imo, is the parts all come from the same suppliers. Who cares who held the wrenches. If anything, I'd be watching where the car and and components were DESIGNED.

Any of you guys memorize your car's VIN code? Seems stupid but it tells you a bit more about the car.
