American Eagle

Hey,

Has anyone worked at AE before? I was thinking of applying there for a part-time job and for Christmas holidays.

Is the application online only?

Thanks

No, they have applications in-store. After you apply, they'll set you up in a group interview. After the group interview, if you're hired, you'll get called.

When I applied, I gave them both the application form and my resume for good measure.

I've never worked at an AE but have worked various other retail jobs... I've also had quite a few friends who've worked at AE. You're best bet is honestly to apply in person. Ask to speak to a manager. I would really opt for a cover letter if you've got one or send me a pm and I can help you out in drafting one. You shouldn't expect too much for an entry level retail position.

If you're going to apply in person it's also best to go during non peak when it's not so busy. The manager will probably ask you generic on the spot interview type questions like why you want to work there etc.

Now is a good time to apply as most retailers are going to be looking for seasonal very soon.

Good luck.

I knew a few people who worked in the Richmond Center AE Store, and they said that the manager's aren't the nicest bunch of people, they're "arrogant" and "unreasonable". And like restaurants, they only hire people who are "decent to hot looking".

Retail jobs never appealed to me... but from knowing people who have worked in Mexx, Bluenotes, AE, Fairweather, I would stay away from them.

U can always try McDonald's or A&W. You can be the back cook so i don't think they care how u look.

To be honest as a part time job I would rather work at McD cooking. I don't have to deal with customer's bullshit and I can play my own music at the back =D

I applied to them back in high school in person. First off you have this LONG form you have to fill out front and back. They'll call you in for a group interview, I'm pretty sure everyone gets called because they had these two South American girls who didn't speak a single word of English at my session.

If they like you, they'll tell you to come in for a "second interview" and that's pretty much you working for free for 30 minutes and they see whether they like you or not.

I've known people who have worked for AE and honestly there are much better retail jobs out there.

I worked at AE in '03. I had a group interview. They'll ask you what AE's target market is and it's college ppl ages 19-25 if I recall correctly. They'll ask you what the current style is. During my interview, I said the "OC" look. Then you will be partnered with someone else from the interview and you must grab items from the store to create a look to which you must present and explain.

Good luck.
