Visa Gift Card to pay CC bill?

sorry this is a total noob minor banking question:

i have a RBC gift card

how can i use the balance on it to pay off my october's regular CC bill?

i'm on rbc banking online

I doubt you can pay off a credit card using a credit card. but that's just my opinion.

you go to any bank that offers visa and you cash advance the visa gift card for the full value. then you take the cash and pay off your credit card bill

sorry

It is a gift card, thus it is essentially cash, you should beable to whatever you want with it.

My parents got me a Visa GC for the Olympics - never again. Visa takes like $6 to activate it, then it wouldn't work in many places, plus unless you know the balance, you cannot charge right down to the last penny left. Dumb.

cumbersome for sure.
they cost the buyer 3.95 i believe. there is a maintenance fee after 6(?) months so have to use soon after receiving.
i think the problem taylor may have had is that since its a gift card without actual "credit" places like restaurants will decline it, reason being say its a $50 gc and u eat a $48 bill their machines preauthorize $48 +20% to anticipate a tip. So thus declining the transaction. you can register your gift card to check on the balance. what i do is use the last bit of change on the card to purchase credits on my starbucks card.

in addition,

when u have questions dont be shy to ask directly,
is the gift card through RBC as well? call them 1800 ROYAL - 12
its the number on the back of your visa and ask their reps

yeah i went into a bank on thurs and they said no way jose

waddy41 11-07-2010 04:48 PM

anyway you can sell the gift card?
Maybe that`s the easiest way

tiger_handheld 11-07-2010 05:10 PM

why bother selling?

next time you want to use the visa - use the gc. you are done..

twitchyzero 11-07-2010 05:21 PM

yeah i was just curious since it's practically extra credits lying around. will use it towards other purchases.
