need a quick RS feedback! as some of you know i am looking to trade my E46 M3 fr an SUV or something more practical that can be driven all season long. I posted an ad on craigslist and right away one guy emailed me asking if i was interested in a straight trade for a 2004 VW Phaeton. http://vancouver.en.craigslist.ca/rd...041237351.html i dont know much about this car but seems to good to be true. any feedbacks, suggestions, opinions? |
I've seen that guy posting his car for sale or trade for a while now. Seems like he might be quite eager to get rid of it. My point: be careful and find out as much as possible about the car, could be something wrong with it and Phaetons can be very expensive to fix. |
i asked fro a reason why he was selling it and this was his response: "I bought the car 1 1/2 years ago and did not consult my wife. She hates the car, mainly the size of it and the seats. I also have a 16 year old that has his L. He is not a fan of learning on such a big car either. The car is great. One of the most incredible drives for a luxury car. It also has 335 bhp, so it moves well." |
seems like a legit guy. http://www.facebook.com/people/Curti...p?id=583475066 previous worker for Helijet. |
the cars front end looks sleepy |
But an m3 would be a good car for a 16 year boy? Sounds like he is trying to sell you on it by changing the subject. I get the feeling the guy is a car flipper based on how the ad is made. Don't get me wrong, the car looks clean and quite tempting, but I would hold onto the m3 for something better. I've traded cars like this a couple of times and there is always someone trying to pull a quick one. |
seems like an ok deal. |

define car flipper? |
someone who is always buying/selling/trading/fixing up cars and trying to get the better end of the deal. |
ah ok. now i understand. but this guy has warranty period still n transferable. wouldnt that usually be alright? Posted via RS Mobile |
Yeah the warranty is a big plus. He doesn't say whether it's factory warranty of certified pre owned from vw so make sure to find out what it covers. And it might be a lot harder to sell the car once the warranty is up. A good way to gauge the legitimacy of the guy and car is to actually meet and check out the cars. The more I read the ad and look at the car the more it seems legit... maybe I'll see if he is interested in a spec v with 14k on top.. but i no has 14 k :( |

If you do end up trading you will get an awesome car. The Phaeton is one of the most under-appreciated super-luxury sedans... |
