Make sure you stop before the stop sign cuz of bad habit. Always shoulder check when making turns and parking.

And good luck.

Sucks... Honestly I dont know how people fail. When you take your class 5 they make you read a piece of paper b4 your test which basically tells you everything you should do when driving...

I have my class 5 test on the 15th.

When I took a few refresher courses I learned the examiner will allow 10%+/- of te speed limit.
30kmph is 27-33, 50kmph is 45-55, 80kmph is 72-88, etc

Make sure you pause your stops and shoulder check all turns and lane changes.

If jwalkers are stopped for you don't stop for them. If they are walking through your lane or are about to you have to stop or you might get failed

Try to make it more obvious that you are observing the road.

Also, one thing I never knew before is that when downtown, making a lefthand turn onto a oneway street at a red light you can turn if it is clear.

um NO, if its a school zone or near park, u make sure u FKING STAY UNDER 30KM, even 30.00005KM and u instantly fail. lots of instances of this happening.

when i did my class 5, i drove 55-58KM on roads that are 50 and stayed at 27 when roads are 30.

not sure if anyone has mentioned this but... simply being nice and sucking up to the examiner will go a long way for these tests. this is assuming you dont do something drastically bad (speeding, running lights, etc etc).

my brother took his class 5, and he went underspeed too many times (he was too afraid of speeding), and was warned a few times. the guy said if my brother went below speed limits again, he will have to fail him. and yeah... my bro went under the limit again LOL.

luckily, before the test, my brother purposely struck up some small chat; asked if the guy just ate (it was during lunch), and apologized for interfering with his lunch. they also talked a bunch about movies etc. this stuff put the examiner in a very good mood, and showed that my brother was just a nice guy trying to get his class 5. so at the end, he still passed my brother. he asked if my bro usually drives this slow, and my bro said no. so the guy was nice enough to pass my bro ;]

when i took my N test, i failed epically with the reverse parking at the end. i was too nervous i guess. but before and during the test, i chatted with the examiner, and made her feel that i was just a nice kid ;D! she was like "you did perfect for the whole test, except for the reverse parking, im still going to pass you, but i want you to practise reverse parking more". i can bet you if i acted like some gangster, if i made one little mistake, she would totally call me on it. no one likes a cocky driver.

if you have to ask for pointers on a road test don't even bother showing up to it. pointers don't mean shit if you can't do it naturally.

I find it's best to distract the instructor with something - be it conversation, taking the test in a really cool car, or driving like you're at some sort of drift competition. For extra points you should shift from 1st to 2nd while drifting sideways in a turn - the instructor will become overjoyed with excitement and cheer you on. Don't be afraid to use that loud pedal, the objective here is to cloud up the interior of the car with tire smoke so visibility is too far reduced to actually point out road hazards. Typically your instructor has started to barter with you for return to the DMV and you can guarantee yourself a pass!

Good luck!

I took mine some time after the Olympics, and I personally wanted to stay silent the whole test besides the odd acknowledgment when the instructor was giving directions. But she started talking about the olympics and then before I knew it, we were back at the icbc parking lot in bby. She didn't write anything down on the paper, so she just made something up, like a forgot to shoulder check a turn.

i lucked out with my examiner. he was a late 20's guy that was really nice and chill. ended up talking about the nba and fob drivers for the majority of it and ended up passing even though i made a few mistakes here and there. as long as you don't fuck up majorly like running a stop sign, most people should get it with ease.

Messing up the reverse stall parking shouldnt be an automatic fail..

any one take their exam in an extremely low car (meaning i have to take all bumps on an angle) and close to illegal loud exhaust? those are my only concerns. i dont want to set a stereotype of a 'modded street racer dood' before my exam. would it be better if i took my dad's stock car?

why make it harder on yourself and take a rhd?

with rhd cars it's a bit different, especially the left hand turns sometimes.
