Is this what DJ'ing has become?

All computer and no spinning? How is this even considered as an artform anymore.

The same way people now create art/digital prints with computer software.

The art behind DJ'ing comes with selecting the right songs, being able to beat match, and hitting proper transitions. Sure it may be a bit easier with Serato or VirtualVinyl but bad DJs will still be bad DJs and good DJs will still be good.

it's been this way for the past few years. If you go to the smaller clubs, the dj plays everything off his ipod

Well the transition to this electronic style (laptop, CDJs, Serato etc...) came with age of digital media. Who wants to carry stacks of vinyl around with them.
