Why not just buy the turbo version in the first place? and welcome to RS.

GabAlmighty 11-08-2010 03:49 PM

Putting a couple turbos on should be pretty simple.

Have fun paying for someone to rebuild your motor, gonna cost a fair bit especially if you go to the stealership (I'm thinking ATLEAST like 2k?).

xtwistdx 11-08-2010 04:14 PM

hmm know anyone in vancouver that could do it for a fair price i got a decent amount of money for the rebuild i got 1500$ set aside for that and im doing consmetics after

GabAlmighty 11-08-2010 04:35 PM

Why does it need a rebuild?

ilvtofu 11-08-2010 04:37 PM

^+1 lmao "nothing wrong with it . . . was thinking of rebuilding it"

why would you want to rebuild your engine when its running fine? the sohc has a reputation of being the most reliable trim of the 6g72 engines.
the cost to rebuild at a dealership would be a lot, think cost of your car or more. clean up the car a little and just enjoy it for what it is.

the only shop that works on these cars (and knows what he is doing) is George at GTRacing down in surrey:
http://www.gtracing.ca/
604-764-1440 is his personal cell number.

you cannot bolt on turbos to the sohc motor, hell you cant even do it to the dohc n/a motor. even if you spend the money to fabricate a custom build to throw on turbos, it would be useless. should have just got a twin turbo in the first place.
i agree with your rebuild comment though.

look above i posted the shops info. save that money as an "oh shit" fund when something breaks.

edit: also, anything and everything you wanted to know about your car: http://www.3si.org/forum/

I was going for the lol factor;) There's no N/A car you can simply "bolt on" turbo's, gonna require some work. Albeit some cars much less than others but still work nonetheless.

And ya, paying someone to rebuild an engine scares me.

xtwistdx 11-08-2010 08:33 PM

well its not a sohc its a dohc actually and its just worn in was thinking of doin it before it breaks the trannys gold on it clutch was just replace 6 months ago has minor oil leak from the bottom says its a gasket needs a new one

GabAlmighty 11-08-2010 08:35 PM

Trying to understand what you're saying...

You wanna rebuilt it because it's worn and you wanna do it before it breaks the transmission? Not followin you here bro.

And what makes you think it's worn? How's the oil look? Any funny sputters or bogging under acceleration? High miles don't mean it's "worn", it's all how you take care of your machine.

EmOne 11-08-2010 09:01 PM

this thread is a joke right?

The_AK 11-09-2010 12:14 AM

Have you considered putting in some punctuation before you put in the turbos?

go back up and compare your engine to those pictures. im trying to help you like everyone else in here.
there is no need to rebuild your engine if its running fine. fix that oil leak and your good to go. what makes you think its worn?

some advice for down the road,

when you start dumping money into this thing, don't think it makes your cars value anymore.

your car is worth as much as being stock.

This thread just reminds me of those overpriced cars... like people who dump lots of money into a civic and then expect to sell it for like $20k.

orange7 11-10-2010 02:40 AM

^
+1

mods don't add value to the car.

in fact, it may even turn down some buyers just because they would like things to be untouched.

MindBomber 11-10-2010 09:06 AM

Instead of putting money towards an engine rebuild and adding turbos,

Hire an English tutor.

Nightwalker 11-10-2010 02:52 PM

I have an R/T Twin Turbo :) I wouldn't trust a Dodge dealership to even know what kind of car it is. Ditto on George at GTRacing, not sure where else over there has experience but the guys on 3Si will help you out! I'm on the island.

Just saw your post on 3si, I'm Coal.

I think people are not understanding you mean due to lack of punctuation. Try using some! Absolutely no reason to rebuild your engine unless there's a problem with it. Always keep maintenance above modding though, and like others have said, mods don't increase value. Cars depreciate, they're not an investment.

You absolutely can turbo an SOHC or DOHC and some people have found some really impressive results, but it's pretty retarded being how cheap twin turbos are now.

death_blossom 11-10-2010 10:18 PM

I like the title of your thread, it's really clever!

welcome to the board. :)
