went and drove an A3... wasn't too impressed... seems like a bit of a waste of money, may as well just buy a jetta tdi wagon and save a few grand

wtf, no one mention wrx/sti hatch??? inexpensive, 4wheel drive, inexpensive to maintain.

no one mentioned volvo's? the leaders in wagons. Or atleast they used to be...

best wagon... a 2007 (last year) V70R with a 6spd gear box and active chassis suspension. mmmmmm

New Jetta wagon or
used Merc wagon; you wont regret it!
both have it all: amazing gas consumption, looks, quality workmanship and lots of room =)
