If I had a 16 year old son, and I owned this car, and I could limit the horsepower of the car with a special key, I'd totally let him take the car out.
A car like that would totally get him all the high school pussy. I'd limit it to like 100 horspower though.
What if your driving along, and you want to switch to track mode? What than? You pull over, turn off car, and put in the other key?
the point is that you dont need track performance on the street. you SHOULDNT have track power on the street. how many times do we hear people saying "whats the point for 500hp in a street car when you cant go above 110km/h" combined with all the new excessive speed laws and street racing problems.
the everyday key makes your car a little tamer on the street. and im sure it saves a ton of fuel too.
and whats with having 2 keys being overly complicated? seems easier than the cars that make you pull over and push up up down down left right left right B A on your onboad computer?
also, because its from ford, it will get hated on. if it was nissan adding this to the GTR or Honda adding it to something it would be hailed as the GREATEST INVENTION OF MAN KIND.
i had 2 different tunes in my 300+ whp wrx and then i let my buddy's g/f drive it when we used her car for something and put it on the shitty tune so she couldnt hit more than 8 psi of boost....i came back and she was bitching that something was wrong with the car....my buddy and i just laughed our asses off at her

Half the people who are reading this thread FAIL reading comprehension.... the point of the key is not to make it so 16 year olds have a safer car to drive with a lower top speed/RPM limitation.
The key is for having a regular tune with regular Mustang fuel economy and regular throttle response that is a mix of performance and comfort, regular shift points and whatever other of the computer adjustments are accounted for in the 200 changes the key causes... and when you feel like it (ie: on a track, they HAVE to say that for legal reasons) you can use a different key and get a race tune.
Is it that fucking hard to figure out? It's not a safety thing for kids! Jesus.

It's because half of the people here think they've seen all of the latest and greatest, then they decide to apply their own shitty logic into solving the problem while ignoring any sort of upside that goes against their logic.
The people failing most likely haven't ever considered fuel economy nor comfort in their own requirements for a car.

Ford having two different keys is stupid while BMW/Mercedes/Audi vehicles having different "personalities" (everything from seat memories to suspension/sport modes) on different keys is a great idea.

What if they can't have or don't want all those ECM changes to happen on the fly? I wonder how that 2-stage launch control works...nothing was said in the Jet Mustang article about it.

you guys are fucking retarded
let say theres a chick passed you but you cant catch up to check her out (maybe shes driving in Benz SLR McLaren or something fast)... but you remembered your car has a track mode which gives it more power... BUT BUT wait, youcant use it coz u need to change keys...
so you pull over, turn off the engine, swap keys and your ready to roll.. but wait, where the hell did she go????? now that seems good!

whats to stop your teenage boy from making another profile for the "Street Key". Im sure there will be tuners to hack into computer and make a super track profile or something, and you would never know.
At least with the switch, if you use that setting, you would know if its been tamptered with.

God this is a stupid idea, in japan they were smart enough to set it in the system that when the GT RAWR hits the track it will unlock its full capability.

Perfect, thats exactly the issue.
Now lets play that scenario out in a BMW M3.
Your chillin out in the slow lane on your way back from Whis, when a gorgeous young girl passes you in her parents S6. After not scoring with any of the Australian beauties, this girl might be your last chance to taste pussy till next weekend! So, you press the M button, quickly catch up, get her number and sext all the way back to your North Van condo, where the two of you..
I am better than everyone, you, your brothers, sisters, fathers, moms, even your fucking dogs. I can drive all drivetrain platforms and all types of industrial machinery, and I got a fucking nuclear sub, yeah thats right, a fucking nuclear sub.

Apparently you can't read either...or drive around using anything other than full throttle.
