Hondaracer 11-15-2010 05:50 PM

ICBC asks you to bring in the car and your doing everything in your power including "ignoring" letters from them to not bring the car in?

sounds like BS to me, and i HIGHLY doubt somone just submitted your name to ICBC and magically guessed your DL number, you obviously gave this person your info at some point

MG1 11-15-2010 05:51 PM

No, I mean............

I dun want the game to end. Or I dun know what else to say.

wouwou 11-15-2010 06:08 PM

dude, what you are saying doesn't even make sense.

Someone magically got your DL number and name, then your GF wouldn't let you drive your "daily commute" car to ICBC to prove your innocent?

Either the story is complete BS, or you should have a serious talk with your GF about hit-and-run.

WingHang 11-15-2010 06:10 PM

....its not a fucking hit n run. n the car isnt mine i only drove it for a little bit. n i am going to just bring in the car somehow some way ill find out how much 1 day permit is. cant be more than 100$

RFlush 11-15-2010 06:17 PM

If you end up not being at fault (which I doubt), please use the money that ICBC wanted from you to go pay for an ESL course, then at least something good can come out of this whole ordeal.

Gt-R R34 11-15-2010 06:21 PM

2009 and coming otu the wood works now? ugh.

WingHang 11-15-2010 06:23 PM

^^

???? i have no idea what that means.

wouwou 11-15-2010 06:25 PM

^
you are not getting it.

It's doesn't make sense that someone can just get your DL, name and file a suit with ICBC. In order for ICBC to actually take it seriously (ie, send out letters), they need to find it probable, which usually means the other party can describe the car that's under your name.

It's only after they can probably identify the car in question that ICBC will consider it an actual claim, not some 15 yrs old punk calling.

That means whoever called in either 1, knows you way too well, or 2, actually had his/her car hit-and-run.

2nd, your are right, a day permit is dirt cheap, which is why it is strange your GF is unwilling to let you bring the car in for inspection because the cost can't be more than $50 and it takes practically less than 2 hours to do the inspection and everything.

Not bringing the car in for an easy inspection while the consequence is thousands of $ in insurance premium? NO ONE IS THAT DUMB.

WingHang 11-15-2010 06:29 PM

no she would let me bring it in. but shes not going to pay for it herself. n i would have to ask for a signature.... have to explain to her. (just dont wanna go through that trouble)

no its not a hit and run no im not accused of murder or 5k worth of damage. im plannign to go do it cause its straight forward im forced to prove my innocence

the other guy was right..icbc will get what they want. they have alot more power than i thought

Gridlock 11-15-2010 06:47 PM

Permits are $35 with comprehensive.

Oh so now you plan on doing it? After all that non sense and circling around with your half assed story, you finally think you should just bring the car in?

Either you are a person with no common sense, or you are just trolling. A normal person who has common sense would know proving their own innocence in this case will get you off the hot spot, yet you give a half assed story to us, making everyone assume you were at fault in some accident at some time. Hiding will only make you look suspicious, it's that easy.

Like others have said, $35 to insure the car for a day and show them the car, or pay higher premiums when you buy insurance for a car. That easy. I don't understand why this has to be made so difficult.

EDIT: learn some english.

if asking for a car to prove innocent is trouble to your GF, you should seriously reconsider your relationship.

after all, the car was insured under YOUR NAME, meaning she either took advantage of your lower insurance rate, or you are paying for it.

Selanne_200 11-15-2010 07:08 PM

Well I think this goes beyond the matter of you feeling like you have to prove your innocence for no good reason. there has got to be a more than a balance of probability that the other party has to proof before icbc would proceed like this.
From what I can recall, when the other party claims a hit and run, first thing they do it they would require that person to bring his car in for an inspection and taking a statement from him. Then they prob searched up a record of vehicles u owned and see if it fits profile of the damaged area (ie colour).
Long story short, buy a comprehensive one day insurance for 34 or if u really wanna save, basic insurance for 27 and bring the car in. If the facts don't add up for the other dude, ur off the hook

BTW, as much as I hate ICBC, I don't think they'll go as far as "framing" other drivers to recoup their repair costs

Super Dipper 11-15-2010 09:17 PM

something doesnt add up

SpuGen 11-15-2010 09:29 PM

All I got from the broken English was:

- ICBC has his DL# and Name.
- Girlfriend's car. Insured under his name.
- Apparently his actual car wasn't involved
- He was Driving his Girlfriend's car. Which is insured under his name.
- So he got in the accident with his "Girlfriend's car" but with his insurance.
- Gave the guy his info.
- Girlfriend is actually his Mom who doesn't want to pay for his shit, and wants him to learn a lesson by letting his insurance take a hit.

OR. Car is insured by Mommy. He got into an accident with it, Mom won't let him drive her car anymore. Thus, being unable to bring it in.
That or mommy sold it, and he can't bring it in.

Case Solved.

Spidey 11-15-2010 09:46 PM

firstly, can you please learn to type AND and not N?

secondly, it is their word against yours and if you do not admit to it and say you have no idea why they have your name and dl, then they are screwed.. especially with no witnesses.. they will have to claim hit and run. but, if youhave nothing to hide, why not just bring it in? or tell them it isnt insured so it cannot be brought in. i dunno this sounds like a messed up story with holes in it

Orion 11-16-2010 11:04 AM

so how did this guy get your name and DL anyways?

tool001 11-16-2010 11:53 AM

Winghang,, u can get correct advise only if u tell the whole story, otherwise dont bother wasting time on RS... (thats an oxymoron.... isn't it?)

Psykopathik 11-16-2010 12:02 PM

before you go any further. how about you tell us the WHOLE story?
