Really?

You couldn't call and ask? Or GO to an insurance place and you know, ask?

ilvtofu 11-16-2010 09:08 AM

How did you manage to screw that up, those are some of the stickiest stickers around.

Make sure you stick it in the back and not the front btw.

EmOne 11-16-2010 09:20 AM

you should sell the truck and buy a new one.

FYI, the insurance decal has a unique number on it which is recorded in your insurance papers. If you end up getting a new decal, your papers should also be updated.

tool001 11-16-2010 11:58 AM

just ask ur insurance guy for new stick ons, i did when my frame covered up my sicker.. quite simple. but will have to take insurance papers ,, to get new one, (for month/year u need papers) for day u dont. they can look that up.

A couple years back my mom tried peeling her insurance sticker off cause she stuck it on crooked, then it wouldn't stick anymore. She had to call the insurance agent and pay for a replacement.

But if you know an insurance agent, they should be able to replace it for free (depending on if the agent allows you to or not). I stuck mine on slightly crooked one time (I think I have mild OCD) and got pissed, so called my insurance agent and she gave me replacements for free.

geeknerd 11-16-2010 12:24 PM

Go take another look at your insurance decal. In addition to the month and year, you'll find a sequence of 8 digits, small font.

OP prob tried sticking it without wiping the plates down first.
OP Tried again but bits of it broke off because of the new security feature.
OP will be getting a new $18 sticker soon.
Fin.

just a good tip since those stickers always get jacked, when you stick yours on, cut lines into it with an x-acto knife

if you paid attention, when they peel it off the big sheet, there's a corresponding one they peel off to attach to your records.

i never stick a insurance decal over the old one, makes it harder to steal.

Good advice.

PITA to get the old one off. Usually I have to pick some corners off with a utility knife and peel back slowly - heat helps. The residue comes off with brake cleaner or acetone.

And as Gumby and lgman wrote, new sticker = new paperwork = $18.

twitchyzero 11-17-2010 08:56 AM

+1 for exacto knife
