Where to put dog shit

Hey guys,

Where do you put the dog shit that you collect from your backyard? Are we allowed to just throw it in the garbage or what?

Thanks in advance.

kluk 11-16-2010 06:42 PM

flush it down the toilet

1-Slicer-1 11-16-2010 07:26 PM

Any other options?

hchang 11-16-2010 08:19 PM

Use it as fertilizer.

Euro7r 11-17-2010 02:19 AM

Leave it there, vancouver rains enough to wash it away.

Soundy 11-17-2010 06:58 AM

And yes, you CAN just put it in the garbage.

I just put it in the garbage.

Okay, just want to get confirmation that I am understanding this correctly; It is legal for me to put my dog's shit in the garbage, correct?

My mom is telling me it's illegal and that she knows somebody in Vancouver that got fined for doing so.

You can put it in your garbage can no problem.. In your moms case was the person throwing it away in their garbage or a commercial garbage can?

I'm not sure. I just called City of Surrey Bylaw people and asked them and they told me it's okay to throw it my garbage can. When I mentioned the story of the person in Vancouver, the lady responded simply that the Vancouver bylaws are different than those of Surrey.

freakshowfan 11-18-2010 03:38 PM

If you read the entire thread, you will see that I stated that my mom told me that someone she knows was fined for throwing dog shit in the garbage.

So no, my mom is not a 'he', the guy who got fined is a 'he'....

Wow the intellegent comments astound me.
If the city of surrey says there is no bylaw. I thought I had heard something along the lines that it wasn't to go in the trash, but that you had to pay a company to come take it away. I think this only applies to kennels and such though as I've never had a problem over the 15 yrs that I've had dogs. I've got a dane right now so if there was an issue it should have come up already.

Gerbs 11-26-2010 11:27 PM

No, its legal in vancouver. There signs around parks to throw you poop in garbage cans

baggdis300 11-28-2010 12:20 PM

throw it in with the grass clippings ;)

Mugen EvOlutioN 12-02-2010 01:37 PM

take it home and EAT that shit

dignatas 12-03-2010 02:02 PM

i have two dogs who poop in my back yard all the time. Just scoop it all up in a bag and throw it in a plastic bag. Throw it in the garbage bin and let them take it away.. easy

Cota4RT 12-04-2010 05:17 AM

Will that be paper or plastic ?
Never could see the logic in wrapping turds in plastic just to put em in a landfill, imagine how long that takes to compost. Add the pollution impact of all that plastic no longer fit for recycling, it's a good thing humans don't practice the same barbaric ritual. :evil
Taught my guy to back into the bushes where nobody walks and it's never become a problem in my 22 acre back yard. When I pen him in my friends fenced yard with their dogs he walks around like it's a mine field. :nono:

That's why you use the biodegradeable bags. Believe me, they DO break down, in very little time.... I pulled a bunch out the other day, barely a year old, and they literally fell apart in my hands.
