uhmmm be clear before the trial it wasn't known that he was guilty
you internet vigilantes are forgetting that he was innocent until proven otherwise
and if we seriously looked at the situation he shouldnt have been convicted for the charge that he was (a few supreme court justices agree with that viewpoint)
its just with the worldwide media hype over the situation and all the money invested and the parties involved getting the case closed and shut took priority
I mean look no 1 cares that its believed there are others involved and there are still more cases unsolved if you were really justice seeking vigilantes you'd be crying out for that

Unfortunately, high profile cases are expensive, but they are necessary. And everybody deserves a fair trial. | Everyone deserves a fair trial, but the crown also has the responsibility to carry out the tasks cost efficiently...
I am SURE we are capable of giving him a fair trial w/o spending $100 millions+. But I guess taxpayers' money = free money for our government...

I don't think anyone here has pin pointed why the investigation was expensive.
The RCMP easily could have spent less than ten million dollars and had similar results in the trial, all they needed actually needed was enough evidence to have a couple convictions. They chose to spend seventy million dollars and search every square inch of the farm, so they could give closure to the grieving families of his possible victims.

The last thing we need is cutting corners during the investigation, and having a case thrown out because they weren't thorough enough.

I said, the RCMP could have gathered enough evidence to prove Pickton, is guilty of two murders, for less money than it took to prove him guilty of twenty six.
