Personally, I like Shanghai River the best(Across from Richmond Center), although the ambiance is a lot shittier than the rest of their competitors, I find that their food tastes a lot better. But depending on how many people "multiple people" is, you might have some seating trouble.
There's also that other store in Richport Square (where Chapters is) that is pretty good. I think this would probably be your best bet if you have 6 to 8 or more people.
Definitely do not go to Top Shanghai by the liquor store, I've heard a lot of horror stories there ranging anywhere from food sickening, to mistreating their staff.

I go to Lin's for xiao long bao now. http://www.linchinese.ca/
Never had dinner there though, but their lunch menu's pretty good.
FYI, the decor's pretty outdated. So if you're looking for a place to impress someone, this would not be my choice.

Lin's and Long's Noodle House are my 2 fav xiao long bao places.
As for duck.
Kam Kook Yuen.
Sure, their duck is not cheap there, but it's pretty good.
I too would be thrilled if somebody could point me towards better duck.
i duck.
