Don't be like me and winter tire procrastinate!!

Now it's too cold and wet to jack up the car and put on winters…

Don't go driving the car with summers out in the snow guys. I wouldn't test ICBC by doing that. Get proper winters and be a lot more safer! If I remember if you crash with tires that are not applicable for those driving conditions, you could be on the line for insurance not covering you. I'm not 100% sure though but I don't think any of us want to find out.

So now that I'm sitting at home waiting to jack up my car in the driveway to be cleared, I took 20 pics lastnight and merged them into one to play with light and creativity! :D

Today it might be OK to do the swap if the driveway is clear…the sun is out!

BTW get your tires from our revscene sponsors, TheSpeedSyndicate. I've always dealt with the guys who work there and they have always been great. They winterized my sister's car for her Edmonton trip and she's been very happy with the winter tires and the great price/service that is offered! Give them a chance and visit them! The crappy thing is I think they're away until Monday.

VANCOUVER (NEWS1130) - ICBC has a reminder, and a warning, if you plan on driving in the snow this season. If you do crash while trying to negotiate slushy or snowy streets, your car better have the right gear.

If it turns out you're more than 25 per cent to blame for an accident on wintery roads, you can expect to pay the price with your insurance premiums. Mark Jan Vrem with ICBC says, "If you are in a collision, and the subsequent investigation determines that the lack of winter tires was one of the factors, it's a possibility that it could affect your liability."

That's something it seems few are aware of on Vancouver streets. A woman tells us, "I did not know that, I wasn't aware of it. But luckily, my husband is on the ball and I have snow tires."

Another person says, "I'll think more before I go driving down the hill... But I see people driving past me; I drive no faster than I can slide."

ICBC says driving without the right winter tires may not be the smartest move, but ultimately it won't affect your ability to make a claim, and shouldn't void your insurance.
Honestly, swapping summer for winter wheels isn't that bad. Even with snow on the ground it only takes 20 minutes..

Just do some homework ahead of time and you can make a deal. That's how I always do it. Remember that most of the good pricing is American so just take into account your time, shipping, and more. Once you have your prices goto them and they'll take care of you!

One of the best I've found locally. Still hard to beat US pricing though... but good prices and their service is top notch.

She's too old for the general active member base…

I took these today while rim swapping…LOL

Dunlop 3D's….awesome performance winter tires. But I think I like Blizzak LM's more. The Dunlops did me through the horrific snowfall/avalanche of 2008/2009. SpeedSyndicate will take care of you guys though….just told them Trevor send you. They'll know. ;)

Death2Theft 11-21-2010 09:43 AM

Dunlops are name brand 2nd tier tech tires. I'd rather buy canadian tire snow tires over their crap.

roverT 11-21-2010 11:12 AM

What's 2nd tier mean? Looks like I need more edumacating. :D

Gh0stRider 11-21-2010 11:26 AM

What are you smoking? Dunlop is a major tire manufacturer and comes as OEM on a LOT of very nice vehicles.

They supply tires to quite a few racing series as well... so I wouldn't call them "2nd Tier. " If you're saying that, then Goodyear is also crap as well, because Goodyear and Dunlop are one company.

Most of you guys have cameras that can do what was shown. Just use a tripod and set it to take longer shutter pics. I know most Canons have that option as my 6 year old now retired Canon point and shoot did.

I was using a Canon SD980IS for those pics.

I would agree that Dunlop is 2nd tier. 1st tier is more like Pirelli, Conti, Michelin and bridgestones. (maybe some say bridgestone barely makes it on 1st tier)

GTR came stock with dunlops, but still... Dunlops probably on the side tier with Yoko.

wow...thought you were using some DSLR

roverT 11-22-2010 12:47 AM

I usually work with a Nikon D200 and use either the stock 18-55mm or the 50mm F1.2 which I have fallen in love with. I heard there's a 24mm version which would make the lens so much more flexible. :D
