Watching Americans fight each other for cheap TVs is hilarious, but are the deals down there better than boxing day?

Is that Sony laptop for $399 a good buy?

fliptuner 11-23-2010 11:37 AM

I went last year and watched a bunch of people get trampled at the Burberry store at Tulalip - including the security guard. Right when the doors opened it was like opening flood gates. The line for that one store went all the way around the inner perimeter of the whole outlet.

I go just cause I can get like 90% of my Christmas shopping done in 1 night and maybe a few goodies for myself. PITA? Yes. Worth it? Well, for me, yes. If it's going to save me from getting stuck in the mall multiple times, multiple days during Christmas, I'll sacrifice the one night. I hate the mall.

I just try go in with a good mindset since I'm pretty high strung. Stay calm, be patient unless you absolutely have to knock a few people around.

Gh0stRider 11-23-2010 12:10 PM

bestbuy opening at 5am, waiting in the cold in gonna suck.

fliptuner 11-23-2010 12:28 PM

On last night's news they showed the first people in the US that lined up at a BB. IIRC, BB gave each of them a free IPad for being so gung ho.

you have to pay duty on the way back, does that still make it worth the drive?,, GAS and DUTY on top of Washington state tax.

fliptuner 11-23-2010 02:49 PM

Yup.

We usually leave around dinner time and come back the next afternoon.

koukimonst3r 11-23-2010 03:09 PM

If they decide to tax you, yes. Add 12% tax to whatever you paid in the States (including Washington sales tax).

Indy 11-23-2010 03:58 PM

Don't forget about Cyber Monday too

It's less widely advertized, but I'm sure some good deals will come on next monday too

Presto 11-23-2010 04:26 PM
