WANTED LED LIGHTING GENUIS!LOCAL HEY guys just wondering if anyone know someone that customize tail lights/headlight etc. i seen some rx8 w/r35 lookin lights at night looks really sick!! on leds..just want to do on mine. i wish i can make my own circuit board of leds... i hope we have someone around vancity. :drool |
just replace your stock bulbs with LED's ... plug and play http://www.superbrightleds.com/cgi-b...FQQQbAodXh_RXw |
What car ansd what kinda work you want to do? Posted via RS Mobile |
i think OP wants to add strips of leds into the housing like the audi headlights. not just change normal bulbs to led bulbs. |
what kind of specific led job are you looking for? like taking tailights into a surgery and converting the halogen bulbs to built in led bulbs type of work? or just simple led strip? |
i recently saw a black nsx with LED converted tail lights. i may be wrong, but from the quick glance i got, it looked like oem rear tail lights updated with led pads throughout the housing. it looked SICK! |
i would like to know too, who does high quality custom headlight/taillight work in 604?... not vansky quality |
in order for you to do this it's not hard. need either cree or superflux leds, solder board, and voltage stabilizers. the biggest problem is a lot of cars dont have a good mounting point for the board so sometimes it's sideways making it hard to see. check out hidplanet for more info it's really not that hard. I did a set myself for my 99 accord tails before but because I couldn't get a clear lens I gave up half way. Most important thing, DO NOT use those CRAPPY led strips they do not work. |

My plan is circuit of leds on my excisting oem tail lights its for eg hatch oem lens is my best bet for them, also want sequential turn signal.so anyone can help me make this happend?? Ill be ur best friend!! Posted via RS Mobile |

Strobes? |
Pretty sure that those are stock LED lights that you saw. 2009 and 2010 Posted via RS Mobile |
must be a pain if you DIY and it burns out within a couple month |
it will cost a lot of money for someone to do a one off.... here is an nsx example: http://www.nsxprime.com/photopost/da.../leds-fast.gif |
Those are really easy and not that expensive, anyone with basic CAD skills can make a drawing for you, send it to a PCB prototype place (typically 20cm x 8cm is about $20 a PCB).. you can pay extra for it to be assembled ie surface mount components etc.. then bob is your uncle. Futurelec is an example of those services. Those will be most reliable as long as you specify proper voltage regulators and drivers. However they are all still illegal. Quote:

Retro LED tail lights also have a reputation for causing a series of problems, because the voltage draw is so low the car doesn't recognize that it still has brake lights. Things like cruise control will fail to function as a result, if you have an EG search H-T and see if its been done, you might find a lot of helpful info that way. |
Those LED lights are stock on newer rx8. I just saw some. Posted via RS Mobile |
Reputation for causing problems because most people who do it didn't take Physics 101 in university. The load will be fine especially if you put on the number of LEDs like that NSX. Quote:

Where are you even finding a place that will produce a one-off PCB for you for $20? Almost no one would do that for you for any price. And these guys aren't engineers. How could they even begin to implement the circuit if they don't have a clue how a microcontroller works or what it even is? How would they write the firmware if they've never done any embedded programming? They wouldn't know how or where to source any of the components and they wouldn't know the difference between an operational amplifier and a switching regulator. They're going to blow something up. At the very least, somebody will inevitably try and do something dumb involving linear regulators, bare wire, and butt connectors, melting the housing, starting a fire. This has to be the worst advice you've ever given on the forum. Ever. |
At least he said it is illegal. |

LED's are nice and all, great for some things... bad for others. Honestly, just go with eGay kits that already come with a more "custom" look that you seek, instead of making/retro'ing. One day, you'll regret mods, and want to return it back to stock, THEN WHAT!? btw, obligatory vansky in post. |
I've done a lot of custom headlight work for our local Nissan Infiniti club, painting and custom led work, I'm pretty damn good at it and I still find it extremely frustrating. Any time you're fckin around with LEDs even with all your bases covered and everything is in place, fairly often shit will not work the way it's supposed too. You really need to have patience with it, I won't even fck with it anymore, I got guys asking me for $500 + headlight taillght jobs too... And no it's not simple, I been doing headlight work few years now, and I always find new issues I haven't encountered before with almost every set I do... Posted via RS Mobile |
