s2000 idle at 3000rpm

hi guys,
my buddies s2000 is acting weird today after he pushed it a little.
after he went up to 6000rpm, he notice a werid noise and the car started to behave werid.

the car starts and warms up as normal and idles normal, no werid sounds.
after he engages first gear, or any other gear. the car stays at 2500rpm to 3000rpm. doesnt drop to idle.

any thoughts on what might be wrong??

Edit: he has AEM CAI, test pipe, and hks exhaust

Weird, it should drop down to about 1k rpms at idle. Try asking on s2ki, they'll be more helpful there.

- Check for vacuum leaks.
- Make sure the throttle linkage is within spec.
- Check your IAC valve
