With that much power you should either be running a dog box or not surprised when your tranny shreds gears into oblivion.

Death2Theft 12-04-2010 09:40 AM

Something tells me this supra wont see the light of day for some time now. Of course it would be pretty sweet to take it to mopac, wonder if it would come close to their record.

all that but stock tranny ?

1exotic 12-04-2010 03:32 PM

Just depends how much power the engine is putting out, the W55 can't hold that much, and W58 isn't all that great also (can hold up 400whp) with risk...

6-speed trans is the way too go with a heavy duty clutch, can pretty much handle anything...

but if the car doesn't have a 6-speed already no point too get one, they cost a shit load... r154 transmissions are usually an upgrade from the W55/W58 trans.

SpuGen 12-04-2010 03:34 PM

^
Yup.
Thats why they call them Weak58's.

But if you're not planning to make much over 400, W58's are much, much cheaper to replace.

R154's are even stronger. The price difference isn't that much either.

Then you have the V160 which is the Getrag 6sp in MK4 Supras. But that just jumps the price by quite alot, if you can find one going for a decent price.

Minata 12-04-2010 05:22 PM

wow... sounds amazing.

Death2Theft 12-04-2010 09:37 PM

So for the noobs that dont know, this car doesn't have any of those pussy as tranny issues. The only ones that do have problems are the weak ass wanabe 2jz's non turbo supras. USDM TT MKIV's have no such issues.

twitchyzero 12-06-2010 08:06 AM

noob Q: why do people sit on the trunk when it's running the dyno?

prevent wheel slippage on dyno + weigh the car down so it doesnt go anywhere

Berzerker 12-06-2010 08:40 AM

It's got nothing to do with it not going anywhere that's the straps job.

It is purely to get more weight on the wheels to prevent slippage on the dyno

Berz out.

exactly lol. if the car is a factory turbo car, it has a V160 in it, which can hold almost anything you can throw at it... now the clutch on the other hand, for 1000whp you need at least a tripple plate

A twin plate clutch will hold to 1200 whp and a triple will hold 1200-1600 but it has to be a carbon clutch most ceramic clutches won't even come close.

Captain Bondo 12-06-2010 09:21 PM

Yeah that looks like a way fatter powerband than the 3076's... even without the nitrous it's great for a 1300+hp capable turbo. Great job guys!

How much boost on the pump+meth?

Makes me want to replace my T04R with a GTX3582R. Looks like it'd support similar power but with crazy response...

Iron Chef 12-07-2010 12:07 PM

seems like this car is what happen's with unlimited funds

CKLCKL 12-07-2010 12:38 PM

If you need to ask how much it costs, then a car like this is out of someones price range.

To build a car like this,I would say at least 100K+,I would not be suprised if the owner spent 150K on this car.

Death2Theft 12-07-2010 07:44 PM

This round of mods prob 20k alone. In refrence to the 6+ engines he's gone thru..... i'm referring to all this 2jz's he's gone thru as this is not his first mkiv.

Not generally. The average car (yours is not) will lose about 10-%15 of HP to parasitic loss with a manual transmission. Automatics eat up more but as the HP and speeds increase so does heat within the drive train and at that point increased parasitic losses are possible. Unless your including the %15 or so your dyno doesn't report?
The motor you built tho is sick

freakshow 12-08-2010 12:44 PM

Nice build!
But I'm not sure whats up with the RG Dyno, I saw a stock C63 read in at 314 at the wheels..

Captain Bondo 12-08-2010 07:12 PM

It reads a bit low. The important thing is consistency, which it seems to be quite good at, so no big deal IMO. If you feel the need to "shop" for a "generous" dyno that's another thread entirely.

But yeah a week after I made 395whp there i went to a dynojet just for lulz and made 470whp without changing anything. Hehehe.

I don't mind, RG are good guys and put up with me while I am there. The important thing is to get the tune right. I would rather tune on an MD.

It would be nice if they fixed the tach inputs though.;):D

I dunno about 20k for the last round of mods, seems high to me... but I suppose it will vary wildly depending on the labor costs, which I would probably underestimate so nevermind. :D

You should have taken it to the RG Dyno, then put on a RevScene sticker, and go to a Dynojet..

Post up the before and after results :troll:
