17 months later, I was finally approved, no interview necessary.

Yeah, and I renewed 4 months prior to expiration but they didn't process it so it technically "expired" and I've been unable to use my existing card during the 2 year "grace period".

whitev70r 10-17-2022 07:02 PM

If you don't need an interview or to take a photo, I got mine renewed in 1 month. Card came in the mail ... easy peazy.
Is the long waits for new applicants?

The 24 month grace period stands as long as you've applied for renewal prior to it's expiration. There is no dependency for the application to be conditionally approved in order to keep using it in the 24 month period.

So my relatives Nexus interview is next week and still no passport. We applied for it back in June.

bcrdukes 12-05-2022 07:47 AM

Update: Both me and my wife received approval notifications of our Nexus renewals today. No interviews required.

whitev70r 12-05-2022 09:17 PM

Nexus appointments available in Canada again for those seeking memberships

bcrdukes 12-22-2022 08:18 PM

Received my new NEXUS today.

How long was the wait. Ive been waiting 1.5 months since my interview but its my first ever nexus pass.

bcrdukes 12-23-2022 08:43 AM

Keep in mind, mine was a renewal, and not a new application.

I renewed my Nexus as soon as the option was avaialble, and that was on April 20, 2022 (I posted a page back.) I received the notification my renewal was approved on December 5, and received the new card yesterday. I have not had an interview for renewals for what I think was about over 10 years. I am on my third or fourth Nexus renewal.

Reading other people's experience here in this thread, it looks like the timelines can vary so there is no standard timeframe one can expect.

CdV 12-23-2022 01:54 PM

This is my second renewal without requiring an interview

Renewal Submission: Apr 23, 2022
Approval Date (no interview necessary): Dec 5, 2022
Received renewed pass: Dec 22, 2022

noob question, how early in advance can one renew their nexus? I assume the new expiry date will be 5 years from the original expiry date right?

bcrdukes 12-24-2022 09:24 AM

I'm not 100% sure but when I logged in back in April, I also asked my wife to check and her expiry month is different from mine and she was able to renew. I want to say a year from expiry should be renewable, but please don't quote me on it; I very well may be wrong.

SSM_DC5 12-24-2022 10:22 AM

1 year. I think it says that where you click to renew on the ttp site.

Oleophobic 12-24-2022 05:07 PM

Thanks. Just making sure, the new expiry will be 5 years from the original expiry right? You won't lose a year by renewing early (that'd be stupid right?)

bcrdukes 12-24-2022 06:06 PM

Yes, the new expiry is 5 years from original. And no, you won't lose a year by renewing early, at least not that I know of. You should be able to continue using your NEXUS.

Given the backlogs (whether cleared or not) I would renew given the opportunity as this is not something I would personally delay.

I'm not getting any dates for appointments in Van

bcrdukes 12-25-2022 07:08 PM

Vancouver is a tough location to get an appointment. If you have the time and flexibility, take a peak at other enrolment centers.

GLOW 12-27-2022 06:31 PM

never got my card, still need to pay $25 to get it re-sent, great :rukidding:

Which one did you use? Blaine?

bcrdukes 12-28-2022 10:18 AM

I've read some of the folks here who went to Blaine (US side) for the interview and getting success with doing so in recent years. Your mileage may vary!

I haven't been to an enrollment centre in a very long time for a renewal interview. That would have been Blaine and over 10+ years ago. My first ever interview for renewal was at the BC Hydro building downtown. I don't even know if CBSA/US CBP even conduct interviews there anymore.
