how fast can you eat 3 pounds of wings?

Wings Burnaby is having the last day of their wing eating contest this coming Monday. The goal: Eat 3 pounds of wings as fast as you can - they take 6 competitors and the fastest 2 go to the finals where the fastest time wins 500 bucks - no cost to enter. Wing flavour is the medium hot wings - not really hot but just saying from my own taste (yes I did it but failed miserably at it and finished dead last in my group - lol)

I believe it's done at all the Wings locations as well

I'd kill this

well give it a shot then - worst case scenario you get 3 pounds of wings for free lolz

I'd like to know if the one in Surrey is doing this. I'd be SO down for it!

xzman 12-02-2010 02:27 PM

Yes they are doing it all the wings

Matlock 12-02-2010 02:29 PM

Wow, I could do this but I am slow when it comes to anything with bones.
Maybe if you increase the amount to 10 lbs.

Marioo1991 12-02-2010 02:31 PM

how well do the wings have to be finished?

They should do it MLE style - weigh the wings before and after

xzman 12-02-2010 02:32 PM

10 pounds?

dinamix 12-02-2010 02:44 PM

3 pounds is about 36-40 wings ...comparable to 35 chick mcniggets

theres a guy that will tell you as youre going if the wings are being eaten 'cleanly' or not

- ya it works out to around 30 wings

CorneringArtist 12-02-2010 02:49 PM

So we can spread the word, and bring a few friends to participate (ie. multiple groups of six)? Or is there just the group of six that can participate first come-first serve?

sonick 12-02-2010 02:56 PM

Somebody's gonna choke on a bone.

xzman 12-02-2010 02:57 PM

in order to keep it as fair as possible it is on a first come first serve basis

ae101 12-03-2010 07:22 AM

what time does this starts

Berzerker 12-03-2010 08:18 AM

What time??

Berz out.

xzman 12-03-2010 01:02 PM

they normally start it at 9pm but it's probably a good idea to get there around 8ish to try and make sure you get a spot - that's speaking on behalf of the burnaby ones - not sure if it will be the same for the other locations

each pound is 10 chicken wings at Wings. So 3lbs would be 30 wings

donjalapeno 12-05-2010 01:05 AM

3lbs of wings at wings is a lot more then others.
Some places have tiny wings with no meat on them and you get lots of bones. But Wings has some real meaty wings.
Less bones, more meat...I think I ate 20 last time and was pretty stuffed.

yuusha 12-06-2010 11:11 AM

^This, I was surprised at how chunky their wings are. One piece I thought would be all breading was a fat chunk of meat. Went yesterday for the Canucks game, 2lbs did it for me.

Nechako87 12-06-2010 11:44 AM

i do this all the time............for fun.

my advice is to wear nitrile gloves, not for the spiciness of the wings, but for the temperature. Also keep a glass of CRUSHED ice beside you, to cool your mouth between wings. The biggest challenge is having a high tolerance for high temperature food, and being able to eat them very quickly.

TheSalesman 12-06-2010 12:09 PM

any of you guys gonna try it out?
