Just went to check out the manfrotto tripods, seems like the 055 with a ball head might cause me tip toe to reach the viewfinder while the 190 will cause me to bend down a bight. The 055 seems more sturdy tho so I'm kinda leaning towards that one.

You don't always have to extend them all the way.

Didn't want to make a new thread and sorta stealing this but FS/BBY has the Manfrotto 7322CY/732CY for 199. That's pretty cheap for a lightweight CF tripod! Just though I'd share.

How high the 055 go? I'm 6 feet 1 and I'm thinking of getting the 055.

pretty dam high, according to the manfrotto site the 055 is 142CM tall and 178.5CM with the center column extended, and that doesnt take into account the height of the head

the 055 should be perfect for you. i'm 5'10" and it was pretty eye level with the column down.

i try to never use the column on my tripod unless i'm lazy and only have 3 of my 4-section legs out...lol
