I'm in the exact same situation as you. Look's like you're almost there. Is there a number for the maintenance person for the new building he's in? Usually this is posted on signs on the building property. If so, call it and play stupid. Make up a story. You'd be surprised at what information they are willing to give you. Follow the process legally. It may be frustrating but do every step. Other option would be to hire a PI. They should be able to get all of their info AND serve them the documents (for a fee of course). Good luck.

Tenant and owner laws are so lop sided its ridiculous, they can pretty much claim you harassed them in any small manner and you'll likely lose.

Maybe the damage deposit should be a full months rent so there is more incentive to respect the property.

Personally, I would love to be able to ask for the first and last month's rent as well as the damage deposit.

But alas, the laws here definately don't favour the owners.

saw the thread title and this came to mind

In terms of contacting the building management of the new building, that is the way to go.

Someone calls me up from the sign at my door and tells me the situation, as long as they check out, I'd be happy to help. I'm a huge advocate of people sticking together, as opposed to passing problems along to another building.

Totally not related, but you never know what helps.
Another tip I've heard of if you need a persons banking information is to send them a check for like $25...something small enough that you don't care, but big enough to entice them to cash it, and from your returned check, you get their bank account info. Can be handy for collection of debt.

For any Rogers dealer, you'd need the first 3 alphanumerics of his postal code (where the phone in registered), which pretty much screws you in using that in any way.

Unless you're a tier 2 or above network rep, then you can lookup without any repercussion.

juss sayin'

just post the guys name...you might get lucky and one of the thousands of people who use this site might know of him or who he is or seen him in their building..

but since the OP knows which building he lives in he actually can figure out the first 3 digits at the click of a button.

Google map those 3 digits and go from there.

canadapost.ca

type in address will give full postal code. Unit # is not needed

JDął 12-07-2010 04:18 PM

As I said he has everything except the unit number. Address with postal code isn't the issue.
