Any Chinese Cooking Class in Richmond? My gf want to learn how to cook chinese food, you know the kind of C-Lai class. Anyone know? Western style is ok too. thx :'D |
Isn't there a TV show on the Chinese channel ? |
i think SUCCESS on capstan way offers chinese cooking classes |
what is there to learn... you throw in an obscene amount of oil, some salt and soy sauce and hope for the best. also cook up some rice; the plainer the better apparently... at least that's what i gather from my mom's cooking |
^ :lol That's pretty spot on. My mom swears by soy sauce, oyster sauce, and salt. |
if one of you is chinese, call up the mom or grandma! |
SO FAH SO GOOD! http://lh4.ggpht.com/_XXPKTJ9haf4/SY...0000000000.jpg The show is pretty popular There are a few cooking shows in HK that have a dedicated audience |
Don't forget the cornstarch and water. |
Downtown out of the question? |
Not purely Chinese but I am always impressed with the Community Kitchen Program in Rchmond. http://chowtimes.com/author/suanne/page/4/ http://www.fsgv.ca/programpages/comm...ykitchens.html I think that's where they meet http://www.gilmoreparkunited.org/earth_and_people.shtml |
youtube? |
you need some veggies, pretty simple, boil but not for too long and plate it up with some oyster sauce, thats the finishing touch to any chinese meal. |
Just steam everything in a rice cooker, add soy sauce. Done deal. |
There are also cooking groups/classes on meetup.com |
youtube. fast, easy, convenient, free |

Good lord, you guys totally aren't helping the situation. First off, I think you need to stock up on a few staple ingredients: light soy sauce sesame oil oyster sauce chinese cooking wine (it's $3 bucks a bottle @ T&T) white pepper (optional) A lot of it is stir fry. Get pan or wok as hot as possible, toss in garlic to brown, add veggies, toss around in the heat. Add cooking wine. Cover for a bit until veg are softened. If you want meat in your stir fry, brown meat, remove and reserve, do veg as instructed above, add meat in again, toss, then serve. If you want that kinda "sauce", it's just a bit of water and corn starch added right near the end of the cooking process. |
