Over the air channels

I just bought a 19" Samsung LN19C350 for my kitchen to replace an old tube television that I had for over 10 years. Unfortunately my kitchen doesn't have a cable outlet in the wall so I have nothing to connect it to. My old tube television had an antenna and I was able to at least watch the news. I tried setting up my Samsung LCD today because I thought it would be able to pick up over the air channels however it couldn't pick up a signal. Would buying some bunny ears help me pick up a signal? Does Vancouver even have over the air channels?

Check out this forum:

depending on where you live, there's a good chance you can get up to 3 HD channels with a OTA receiver or home made antenna

I built a shoebox HD antenna. I can get all 5 HD channels: CBC, CityTV, CTV, Global, Omni.

Total cost was $0. All you need is a shoe box, wire coat hanger, electrical tape and a Coaxial(TV) cable.

I substituted the metal sheet with aluminum foil and it works great.
You also don't need any fancy connectors for the coat hanger. I just used electrical tape to secure the wire to the cable.
